Good time here, lovely setting and great staff. Not a lot happening at the hotel itself but, as senior citizens, we were not bothered about that. Restaurant food only average though. We would certainly go back there again however.
I was pleasantly surprised on how much we enjoyed staying at Club Raro! Good location in proximity to town and the Game Fishing Club, making it easy to enjoy a night out for dinner. Also the sun deck is the perfect spot for a cocktail at sunset. Down by Muri actually gets darker earlier as you loose the sun quicker, where as at Club Raro, we had at least an extra hour of sunshine. We also enjoyed not having to walk for miles through a hotel to get to the restaurant and bar area for meals. The beach is a little rocky but it is so easy to get around to another beach area that this was not an issue. Poolside room was very spacious, and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Really good value for money.

We saw mixed reviews on club raro but decided to book due to great value compared to other resorts. Pleasantly surprised - we had a basic room but that was all we needed, pool area and sun deck was great. Enjoyed good service and a few lunches there. The compliamentary breakfast was a good start to the day. Would happily stay here again.
Staff were helpful and friendly - and very laid back. Very relaxing place to stay.
Our first trip to the Cook Islands and we will definitely be back. Club Raro was a great place to stay. We had a lagoon front room which was spotless if a little basic. The staff were superb, very friendly, always helpful. The resort is ideally placed only 2km from town. Happy hour drinks are NOT 2 for 1, just $4 off. Don't miss a walk two minutes up the road (turn right out the front door) to the Flying Boat chip shop. A converted boat that serves simply the best fish I have ever had. Also call in the deep Sea Fishing club adjacent to it for a cheap drink; Heineken $3.50 and Chardonnay $4.50. Tamarind House a little further on is possibly the best Restaurant we visited, a truly classy establishment with fabulous food. Trader Jacks in town does a mean Cheeseburger and Prawn and Avocado cocktail. Also check out the Reefsub boat trip run by Hugh and Cheryl. It was $65 well spent for over an hours trip viewing underwater spotting turtles, tropical fish, the coral reef and the shipwreck.
Club Raro is only a 20 minute walk from Avarua. A couple of the Islands best restaurants happen to be along this route which is handy. Although the pool is small, it does have a swim-up bar. Staff are very friendly. There is a BBQ buffet on Sunday nights, which is handy as the Island pretty much shuts down on a Sunday! The breakfast buffet is simple, but more than adequate to start off your day - an a la carte option is also available should the buffet not be to your liking. We had a pool room which had a double and two single beds (more than enough for two people!) The room was spacious, with air con, a ceiling fan and a fridge - all essential in the tropics!
Most of the staff not very helpful. Not a very lively place for a resort. Restaurant is unorganised and quality of food leaves a lot to be desired. Very comfortable rooms and beds.
Friendly staff but its a little expensive for whats provided.
They need to upgrade a bit as it's starting to get shabby eg: fans in rooms, floor in dining area. The staff were all very nice and we have no complaints. We'll be back. They also could look at getting an inhouse massage facility, having island music in background and maybe the tv in a seaparate room instead of in the entry room and a more comprehensive dinner/lunch menu . A lovely stay.
We arrived at 1am to a friendly welcome and flowers in the unit. Even at that hour transport was organised for us to meet our connecting flight to another island. We were only there to sleep a few hours before moving to Aitutaki later in the morning, so didn't experience all the resort had to offer.
beautiful outlook of the reef from the outdoor and pool areas. Convenient location to town within walking distance. The island bus stops right outside front door. scooters and cars available to hire from hotel. Only criticism would be the decor in the rooms. They need some re decorating. Beautiful island and well worth going.
Rooms a bit sparsely furnished but comfortable, location not on the best part of the lagoon for snorkelling
A basic provision... Jio was most helpful ...reception was poor and unfriendly and the check out was cold in manner and has a long way to go before it could be classed as acceptable. would recommend a stay should you want a basic without frills accommodation
Everything was good, but if you want a nice resort, try somewhere a bit flahser
Pretty basic, but very convenient to town. I recommend hiring a car or scooter to get around. Great snorkelling just outside the resort but not so great for swimming. The food was pretty average - check out Tamarind House down the road for great meals or fantastic fish n chips from the Game Fishing Club.
The cheaper garden rooms were quieter than the "poolside" rooms and were big, good lighting, adequate storage with good bathrooms. The nicest rooms were the beachside ones but were also the most expensive. Staff mainly very helpful - good continental breakfast which ran from 7am to 10.30am. Had a good selection of reef shoes for anyone to use & you could snorkel at high tide. Pool was a little on the small side but the swim up bar was well patronised. Good supply of deck chairs & shady tables. The tennis court seemed to get plenty of use & there was a pool table, also table tennis. Internet was available but was cheaper in town. Would certainly stay there again.
Staff were very friendly and gave excellent advice about places to visit. I liked the small and intimate environment at Club Raro. It wasn't too touristey if that makes sense. Clee Marsters and the rest of the Club Raro team are the bomb! Also Club Raro is a short 2min stroll from the Fishing Club which is a great place to watch rugby and have an ale!
This was a late booking and I would generally choose a slightly higher grade of accomodation but I was satisfied with the room allocated (after the first night) and the facilities were well chosen and comprehensive. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful.
Price relates to the room and the facilities in the room was poor
The place looks and feels like a 1960s motel. Very basic rooms. Aircon is noisy. Shower cramped. Far too small. Room was clean. Breakfast was from 7.00 to 10 .30 if you arrived after 9.45 there was very little to choose from. Anything that had been consumed by earlier guests was not replaced.
