Situated just metres from the shores of beautiful Lake Taupo, the Colonial Lodge Motel offers quality accommodation in tastefully decorated studio or family suites.There are 8 Studio Units that have a queen and a single bed and will sleep up to 3 people. The 1 Bedroom Units have a queen, 2 singles and a foldout bed and will sleep up to 5 people. Features include kitchen facilities, a shower, spa bath, 42 inch TV, SKY, Freeview, free internet, dining table and outside table and chairs. The Motel is opposite one of the main swimming areas, has off street parking, a quest laundry and continental breakfasts are available. Our aim is to offer quality accommodation at affordable prices.

Getting there:Arriving from the north you travel through town and head along the lake front until you see us at 134 on the left hand side. Coming from the south we are the second motel on the right hand side as soon as you are travelling along the lake front. At night time you cannot miss our bright green neon ring around our sign.
Check-in Procedure:Please present your credit card details on arrival for any incidentals that may occur on your rooms bill. Check in by 9:00pm unless otherwise arranged with staff at the motel.
Car parking:We have off street parking for all guests. ( One Car park per Unit)
Child Policy:Children up to 3 years stay free . Extra adults and children ( 3 yrs and over ) pay $20 per night
We didn't realise that this was more of a lodge than a motel but we were pleasantly surprised. The owners were extremely friendly and accomodating. It has a share kitchen and lounge room, and if you don't have an ensuite (we did) then it is a share bathroom. They have a pool, hot tub and pool table for everyone to use. I would definately stay there again if we venture back to Wanganui.
Had the bestest night at the Colonial Lodge Motel in Taupo. Awesome service!!! Loved the room and the view is awesome too... Thanks heaps for having us :)

While this was an older establishment, the maintenance of the lodge was first class and there was nothing to suggest the place was dated or tired. The Free Wi-fi was a definite plus. I would be more than prepared to stay a few more days here next time I am through Taupo.
The Colonial lodge is a little dated but was clean & quiet. Parking is slightly tight unless there is a free space at the front of the building. On two levels with external stairs so anyone elderly or infirm would be advised to ask for a ground floor unit. Great spa bath.
Very good property overall, not right in the middle of town but only a few minutes walk. Worst thing is the walls are extremely thin, the people in the next room were laughing and screeching quite loudly until just after midnight, even with me banging on the wall. Was going to go knock on their door when they finally stopped.l
Excellent value. Spotless. Roomy. Well-furnished and comfortable. Parking a bit cramped. Will return.

Friendly service, great wireless broadband. Clean and tidy, interior a little dated. Parking a bit cramped. Excellent access to lake and kids triathalon. Good value.
Management was friendly and able to help with activities of what to do. Found the location to be nice and quiet and the environment safe!

fantastic value for money right on the water front
Colonial Lodge Motel is located right across Lake Taupo, very handy to various ammenities. The room was very clean, and contained all the facilities for cooking. The service was very friendly, which made our visit to Taupo very pleasant.
Colonial Lodge Motel lives up to its Qualmark rating. It was spacious, clean and comfortable and nice and quiet too. Great for the wary traveller! I was impressed and will be staying there again.
