Color Design Hotel Bastille Paris Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

I really liked the hotel and especially where it was located. It was a bit outside the tourist areas (east of Bastille) - it was more in a residential area which I prefer. And because of that, there were some really good restaurants around. Plus there is a Metro station right around the corner, which is a great and easy way to get around Paris. As for the rooms. When I first booked the hotel, I read a lot of reviews about the place. The biggest complaint I read was that it had paper thin walls. However, I did not hear any of our neighbors. But since the doors were heavy, you can hear people opening and shutting them. But otherwise, the noise level was at a minimum (except for the one night with some drunk girls outside!) As for the size of the room... like all boutique hotels, it was small, but manageable - very much like NY hotels. The bathroom was also small, but the shower was great! It had good water pressure and a waterfall-like shower-head imbedded in the ceiling!!! But it did get the bathroom a little wet all over. They did clean the rooms everyday. The bed was comfortable... really, if you're in Paris, the only reason to be in the hotel is to sleep and shower. The only thing we did not do is eat their breakfast - complete rip-off! As mentioned, there are plenty of restaurants and bakeries around, you will find plenty of places to get a good breakfast at a fraction of the cost at the hotel. It's definitely a hotel I would book again!

Good location within 15mins walking of Basille and onto Marais. Very clean, fresh and contemporary finish. Good sized room. No tea / coffee facilities in room though. Also very noisy first thing when cleaning commences and I doubt there is much acoustic insulation between rooms as you can hear most things. Minor gripes though and all in all very pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay.

I stay there three nights in April 2009. Hotel full of antithesis. The good things are the light colors, the modern design of bath equipment, the electrical lights and its relatively good location. The bad things are the small rooms (at least that I used), the coridos too narrow, the price is rather high and the worst of all is the lack of drainage system at the bath floor. The shower has no any separation from the rest bath and unavoidably the bath floor always floods.

Modern and chic, however a non-transparent bathroom door would have been nice. Not too far from various Metro stops, however, could use better signage to identify the hotel from a distance. Front desk staff were very helpful.

Comfortable room in a reasonably well-located area of the city. Would gladly stay there again at same price.

The noise from the neighbouring rooms carried making our nights far from peaceful. Any street noise is amplified because of the narrow street bordered by tall buildings. It didn't help when the staff of the hotel decided to go out the front to have a cigarette and a chat in the middle of the night either...they were very noisy also. The room was ok, a bit old but adequate for sleeping. We had a twin room with single beds and they were very small. Narrow and not terribly long. The lift is tiny, my mum and I couldn't both fit in with our luggage. We had to take turns. The internet access in the foyer is very expensive too. It doesn't sound as though I liked the place much - more like I didn't enjoy Paris much :(

There was demolition work going on at the hotel so it was very noisy. Good value for money though. Good location easy access to metro and walking distance to many attractions.

For the money, this was a very comfortable hotel. My single had a nice big bed enough for two people. Great Deal for Paris.

Excellent location, very close to 3 Metro stations. Street is a bit poor and run-down. Description says quiet tree lined street but there is not a tree to be seen! Room extremely small with tiny private bathroom. It was very clean and staff were helpful.
