A-1040 Vienna, Wiedner Gürtel 34
A TRADITIONAL HOTEL Built in 1900 as the HOTEL already housed guests at the time of the Emperor Franz Joseph who travelled to Vienna by train coming from the south of Europe for all sorts of reasons. One of the guests was Franz Kafka who met Milena here in 1917 ("Letters to Milena") LOCATION AND FACILITIES Today the Hotel Congress can also be comfortably reached by car using the motorway exit "Landstrasser Hauptstrasse" on the "Gürtel", direction 'Südbahnhof". The parking lot is directly opposite the hotel. Although all rooms and facilities are technically up-to-date, the Jugendstil/Art Nouveau atmosphere has been preserved. All rooms are equipped with bath or shower, satellite TV, minibar and hairdryer. We offer a sumptuous breakfast buffet in our restaurant. Centrally located and directly opposite the "Südbahnhof" (South Railway Station), it's only a short distance from Belvedere Palace and the underground. The State Opera is a mere 12 minutes' walk away. Be welcome to access the internet in our lobby, be it on your own laptop/PDA or on our guest-surf-station . Small but very nice rooms. Clean and comfortable. Staff very helpfull and friendly. Breakfast buffet was very good and lots to choose from.
I stayed at the Congress Hotel Vienna in April 2010, and I found the hotel good taking the price in consideration. It was a clean room with a nice bathroom, and it had all you needed, if you are a casual guest. The breakfast served consisted of new types of ham and salami for the bread each day, and there was a lot more to choose from including cornflakes and scrambled eggs. It was located very close to U- and S-station Südtirolerplatz, and it was therefore easy to find transportation. The staff were nice and helpful, and if you would like to eat close to the hotel, then I would recommend Restaurant Böhmerwald about 100 metres from the hotel. Good traditional food at a low price. I will recommend this to people who are satisfied with something average at a relatively low price.
With an old, cosy hotel you cannot expect everything to be perfect and cutting-edge. However, a functioning LAN and fridge / minibar in every room would be nice although the free internet cafe-like arrangement beside the reception is comfortable. I could tick off very good on service (with a multilinguistic and multihumorous staff), location and pricing - the form did not allow it.
They can improve their service by spending some money [not too much!].
* very small twin room for 2 persons * dark room situated on the ground floor * kind staff of the hotel
Nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Location unlovely on a very busy and noisy street, but well located concerning transport to airport and trains generally. No air conditioning so in hot sunny weather rooms to the street - like mine get very hot indeed and if you open the window trafficnoise will kill your sleep.
we had a very good price through rates to go, but to be honnest, the real price is abolutely too high for the hotel!!! good breakfast indeed good bed but small room, location quite far from center, bathroom not very good... we won't advise to go there
It should provide free internet service.
Parking prices were outrageously expensive and I ended up parking a long walk away from the hotel, but the charges were still really high.
Except for a few minor things wrong with the room a nice hotel.
The hotel is OK, but nothing special. The price we paid was low comparing to other hotels. It is clean and the location is good. The parking fee is not correct. They have only three cards for parking in the garage, which were all used when we arrived at the hotel, so we had pay to pay the usual ful fee for parking in the garage.
