Very near Belmonte, where Pedro Álvares Cabral was born, the Pousada de Belmonte - Convento de Belmonte results from the reconstruction of the ruined Convent of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, where there is also a small 13th century Chapel. The Pousada de Belmonte preserves all the historical architecture of the convent, including an amphitheatre in the woodlands.

Upon leaving Lisbon, take the A1 highway, exit into the A23 at Torres Novas until reaching the exit for Belmonte. Once in the centre of the village of Belmonte, follow the signs that indicate the 800 metre way to the Pousada.
Upon leaving Porto, take the highway A1 direction South, at Albergaria take A25 direction Guarda, then at A23 exit Belmonte/Manteigas. |
