Fantastic Shower!!Pity the air conditioning unit was broken in the hotel,so the room was quite hot.A huge fan was supplied though, which made a difference.
Found the staff very helpful especially the gentleman who I think was doing cleaning on our floor when we arrived, he saw us seeing if we could enter the room without a swipe key, he told us we could get spares from reception. I said I would. Next minute bobs your uncle he had gone and got us one. Excellant service. I am a person who stays regularly around hotels and motels in NZ and as such found overall this establishment was excellant. Cleanliness was in relation to the discovery of grime under the sofa cushions and under bed - only discovered as we had dropped stuff and needed to pick them up

Stayed in an Exercutive Suite, was a great corner room, spacious lounge area for just 2 people. They gave us vouchers for a complementary drink in the bar/restaurant which was a nice bonus. Was really good location, with plenty of restaurants nearby to chose from (if you dont eat at GCR), and the comedy show we went to was just around the corner at the TSB showplace. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This is an old-style hotel in the heart of the city, close to all that Hamilton has to offer. Some of the rooms are huge in comparison with most hotel rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is quite adequate. However, as an old-style hotel most of the rooms have no soundproofing and the noise from both inside and outside the hotel is unacceptably high. We only stayed one night (a Friday) and were glad we were not staying a second. Traffic and music kept us awake until 3.00am. Another minus is the parking situation. There are sufficient spaces but they are very difficult to manouver into and out of. There is little turning space. All in all I could not possibly reccommend this hotel to anyone other than deaf people without a car.
A bit of a rabbit warren inside with a very small non-opening window in the room. Good sized room though with an excellent bathroom - including a spa bath.
After just one stay, I love this hotel. Our accommodation was so large, and had such great facilities, that we could have lived there permanently. And Rachel was the most helpful and friendly hotel receptionist that I have ever met.
A bit tired though very large rooms and comfortable bed.
Very noisy plumbing - after every shower, there were REALLY loud noises.
Had a standard room no real view except through port hole windows. Would like a view of the town or Mount Taranaki next time. Noisy from street and bar below with windows open so kept them close. Location excellent for walk to the TSB concert bowl. Staff very helpful and made stay great. Would go again to this hotel.
Well located to the city and good facilities.
Our room was noisy. There appeared to be an air conditioning unit on the roof above our bedroom. It certainly sounded like one. The dinners we had (one room service the other in the dining room) were not up to standard. (Scallops over cooked.) Staff (reception and waitresses) were great.
Family Suite was great for our family of 4 adults. Helpful and accommodating service. Great location within easy walking distance of central NP. Internal bedrooms were dark and no road noise so we slept well.
This hotel is of a high standard, very professional and friendly reception staff. Clean and well maintained. Excellent value.
very central location, handy for exploring New Plymouth on foot. spacious room, comfortable and clean and a good shower.
Nice and central. Parking was a bit tight for my type of vehicle, a ute.
This is the kind of hotel you would like to use again because of it's location and overall service and cleanliness. They only need to do something about the spa that turns on by itself after using the shower. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay at the Copthorne Hotel GCP.
very friendly reception, clean and quiet room, close to town centre, a good, family hotel
Watch out for rooms that overlook the local nightclub at the back of the hotel - can be quite noisy. Otherwise a good central location- and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Superb hotel that I would certainly consider were I down in Taranaki again. Very central position in New Plymouth, secure parking and the Spa baths are definitely worth a mention!!!
The only time we were specifically disappointed was when ordering room service, we ordered off the menu but the actual order was not as it described on the menu - however hotel staff were happy to delete this cost from our bill.
