Great place to stay. Guess no where is better in this region. This is the gate to Cradle Mountain Dove Lake.
I have lived in Tassie for 18 years, and have finally visited cradle mountain, wow is all i can say, you must go, its spectacular. Cradle Mountain Lodge is a comfortable, cosy, location although i feel its a bit tired. we stayed in a Pencil Pine Cabin which was adequate, great gas log fire, great shower, and fine for the price. we dined at the highlander resturant on our first night, Food was excellent and good value $69.00 for three courses, wine was expensive but you expect that. Second night we dined at the tavern, excellent chef (french) who was amazing under pressure, good food too! Felt relaxed but would definately upgrade to a bigger room next time. Reception staff great, friendly, and attentive. Thanks for a lovely two days :)

We had a fabulous stay in a pencil pine cabin. It was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. We were there during late winter and the heating system was great - kept us warm in the room. Esp the electric fireplace - really warmed our cold feet fast ;) The location was great, with less than 5min drive from Devils@Cradle; and about 10min drive from the National Park where we went for a Dove Lake Circuit walk. The lodge itself has several walks/trails too, if guests do not want to venture out of the vicinity into the national park. We were delighted when we crossed paths with wallabies, and wombat, during our stay there. We had dinners at the Tavern which served nice dishes. Did not try the Highland Restaurant but had breakfast there, which was delicious. Would definitely stay here again :)
The Lodge was beautiful, mid-winter, padimelons & wombats out the front of our rooms; but the Bistro, which we'd deliberately come to for the lamb shanks was a major disappointment - out of shanks after 1 meal service & full of screaming kids. Breakfast in the restaurant was terrific
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. The service is great and they are all very helpful. The rooms are superb, we stayed in a Pencil Pine Spa cabin and they are decorated very well. With parkings right outside our cabin doors. Highlanders restaurant: food is delicious altho a bit pricey (AUD 59 for 2 course menu per person). Hotel is just 1km from Devils@cradle and 2km from the Vistor center where we go and park our cars to enter the National Park by shuttle. so it is very convenient. You can buy most of the items at the shop in the Visitor Center for 30-40% less than the prices at the Cradle Mt Lodge shops. several walks are situated starting within the Lodge grounds so it is truly convenient. Must try the Dove Lake circuit walk...it is a truly scenic and easy 6km walk...we took 3hours struggling with our cameras due to rain.
Excellent accommodation in cabins which are clean and spacious. Restaurant expensive but Bistro offers excellent food at a reasonable price. Close to National Park entrance.
Very nice cabin in the bush with fire place, Excellent Tavern meals and drinks, Several walks starting from this hotel, Breakfast was very good. Wild life was wandering around the hotel grounds - The best experience.
Beautiful location, friendly staff. A little disappointed our cabin had no balcony (pictures suggested there would be one).
The cradle mountain lodge is a wonderful facility for those who want to get away and just relax. Plenty of walks in the wilderness and great scenery. Staff were on the ball and the breakfast was very good.
A lovely place to stay.
Loved Cradle Mountain Lodge, it was my highlight of my Tasmania trip, and I loved having my own fireplace in my room. It was an amazing experience. would definately come back again and go to the Spa next time
This is a paradise in Nature. Everyone should go there at least once in their life to experience what life has to offer.
Not much to see or do if the weather is bad. A long trip up to Cradle Mountain with lots of winding roads. A beautiful place for nature lovers.
They have great activites to help discover the great outdoors with friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff. The rooms are clean and modern. No TV and no wireless internet or mobile reception makes for a quiet stay.
What a wonderland something for everyone to do if you like the outdoors. Great walks we were lucky to have snow short walks that will inspire you the scenery was magic great spa retreat the staff are an asset for this property if you want to get away this is the place to go.
a very nice comfortable place to stay. was the high lite of our stay in tassie
A great place set in the middle of a tranquil national park. The decor is modern and the rooms are very clean. We were give two cabins that overlook the mini-lake and the reception, the views were simply spectacular. There is no TV in the room but that just leave more time for you to explore the wilderness surroundings. Breakfast was served in a log-fired main restaurant at the main building and it was of good selection. We also had dinner at the pub-style bistro that served reasonably price food. I would come back again more often if its no such a long drive!
Breathtaking location. Beautiful cabins. Wonderful walking tracks. Absolutely heavenly. This place will always remain dear to my heart.
Excellent attention to detail incl candles etc. Dining room could do with some more cosyness feel effects, and white table cloths to get rid of the breakfast communal dinin room feel. Otherwise excellent stay. thank you.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and while a bit expensive, the food was quite impressive and of good quality and/or high standard. Not a good place to pick if you have small children - few activities to keep them entertained and you do not have a television, however if you are there for the scenery, hiking and relaxation, this is one of the best picks in Cradle Mountain. We very much enjoyed our stay and will probably be back.
