Great place with great staff and really well managed. Views were incredible and no one wanted to go home!
Great place to stay. Excellent location and friendly staff.
It's our first time staying there & we booked for next year before we checked out. Great pool & BBQ area. We even booked an extra room so one of our friends can come with us.
Great reception staff - very friendly & welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.
Great Holiday and a Good stay
Cullen Bay as a place is very central, quiet and pleasant to be near the marina. Apartments (note you could end up in Marina View next door as they manage both) had good views of the sunset from the doorway of our room. Floor in first unit was dirty,(they provide broom) screen door wouldn't open, one towel was dirty, dvd player didn't work. We were moved without problems, to another room with a dirty floor, a toaster that had the element peeling away and falling out in lumps and kept tripping the electricity switch (replaced without a problem), and no salt & pepper shakers and sink plug. These are minor things perhaps, but when you are paying $320 per night you do expect a more professional approach. Units would be excellent with jut a bit more work from the Management team. Reception people were wonderful, warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble but are let down by poor maintenance.
The office people were very helpful and friendly people. We're so happy to have an upgraded apartment. I know, they're not a serviced apartment but at least should supply clean towels and at least clean them every third day. Overall stayed pretty good, but we're hurried and hunted by the housekeeping peoples to get out the apartment as earliest as possible which pretty annoying. I think the standard check-out is around 11am still pretty reasonable, not before 10am. Just spoiled the whole experienced.
Great having the washing machine in the good size apartment, great views over the marina and bay from the good size balcony. For the location the rates were reasonable, we would stay here again for sure.
We loved staying at Cullen Bay Resort, the location is great, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and it has good restaurant close by and is within walking distance to everything. The only gripe we would have is that the bathroom could easily have a shelf or something to put your toiletry on. Doreen
The hotel cost us about $295 per night for a 2 BR apartment. I know it's the peak season, but still, this seemed a little steep for the room facilities we encountered. Not too sure what they were thinking with their decor selection... our room (602, I think it was) had black chandeliers, massive ceiling fans (too big for the room), and other odd light fittings, all of which were out of character with the room and location. The furniture was very basic, the sort of starter package you'd get from Fantastic Furniture. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but a little on the small side. Location-wise, it was just out of town, but the bus stop is right across the street. And the pool is not heated. The staff were ALL very friendly, Wendy in particular, and this is a big positive. We arrived at 7am after an overnight flight, and whilst we couldn't check-in straight away, we got in to our room by 10:30am. It really felt like they made an effort to accommodate us that early.
A good basic 1 bedroom apartment with water views across the neighbouring houses. Generally quiet and a good location for nearby cafes/restaurants, access to Mindil markets and a short bus trip into the Darwin CBD. On the down side, the pool is small, less than 1 m deep and in view of other residents. A couple of other comments which are not necessarily due to any fault of management. Firstly, we needed to move rooms after the first night and lost an item of clothing in the move that was not found following this (maybe it will turn up!). Secondly, we were woken on our second night by a violent domestic argument in the neighbouring room. How do we stop this??!!!
Great place to stay if you want to be in the Cullen Bay area and not in the middle of the city. Very comfy bed
Thank you so much to our very friendly receptionist who offered to let us check in early. We were quite exhausted from our long flight and arriving at 6.30 am in the morning. We went for a long walk and headed back to our motel room at 10.00 am to ask if we could lay beside the pool to wait for our check in time but were offered an earlier check in. We could have kissed the receptionist. We would definately stay at Cullen Bay resort again.
The apartments are within walking distance of Cullen Bay and not even a 5 minute drive to Darwin City, which is the main reason we chose the Cullen Bay Apartments. The units have the basics, but require more regular maintenance to maintain them to a higher standard. I would probably try a different hotel next time as I felt $295 per night a bit over priced for what you got.
Had to book in one day early and was very promptly accomodated, great staff and view! Would definately go again
Always pleasant staff, rooms clean and tidy.
I loved the view as we were on the top floor looking out on the ocean, down the hill you had nice restaurants. The pool was great. It is a basic room, A small TV with a DVD player. No room service, you would have to go to the shop to buy drinks or food for the night as they do not have a mini bar they also do not have a breakfast area, so again you would have to go a little way down the hill for breaky. Other then that I found my night stay enjoyable. I would stay there again, now I know what to expect.
Excellent accommodation for the rate we paid. Ideal location for access to Darwin with no car as on bus route and close to casino and Mindel beach markets by foot. Recommend waterview room the higher the better(8 floors) and an apartment if you want space/cooking, but we were happy with hotel room only. Shuttle bus to and from airport available, secure parking, quiet location and tours pickup from Hotel.Would definitely recommend.
