Del Mar Hotel Barcelona

Cracking hotel close the the port area and the gothic quarter, breakfast was very good, get a top floor room if you can, with the outdoor terrace, superb.

Staff were friendly and rooms were clean and perfect for our purpose, well positioned to explore city. A small issue with a smell from the bathrrom drain and room heating. For the price we paid it was great value and comfortable.

There was no childseat in the breakfastroom. Otherwise we had very nice stay. Thank you.

This hotel served its purpose, although I think the staff could have been more pleasent!! It was only a few moments from the marina where there is a street market at weekends, 15 mins to the sandy beach and 10 mins to The Ramblas.A taxi from the airport cost 28 euros although this does depend on the traffic. I would stay again.

Immaculate modernised hotel with sea-themed decor. Room was well heated and good sized, with opening double door to tiny balcony, which had a good view over the square. Location close to sea and many sights, and 5 minutes walk from RENFE train from airport, and the metro. Breakfast with variety of choice, but "hot" food unpalatable because it was not kept warm. No bar or restaurant, or tea making facilities. Just a vending machine! Might be just OK in summer but in the rain and cold when you have to hunt around outside for a cuppa, annoyingly unwelcoming. Extra cash for safe. internet fee of 2 euros for ten minutes was also unwelcome. Desk staff friendly and helpful. I would stay there again for its location and clean presentation, but not for its ambience.

Great location, friendly staff, clean tastefully decorated rooms (the theme is nautical but it's not overdone) and excellent breakfast buffet - a real feast of hot and cold meats, tortilla, cereals, cheese, fruit, pastries, etc. The breakfast alone would cost 40 Euros in some other hotels, but is included in the daily rate here. If you like being close to the city and the sea (great area for jogging) and don't need any special facilities, this is the place to stay.

The room was peaceful and well maintained. Other than passing periodic emergency vehicles, it was quiet at night. All worked well and was clean in the hotel and its location near to Barceloneta and Franca station was ideal for us. Breakfast was good when all worked according to plan but the re-supply of items was a bit haphazard.

Bedrooms small but clean and comfortable. Excellent location.

Didn't use any of the hotel facilities so can't comment on that but breakfast definately NOT included!! (plenty of places around for good breakfasts) There is an occaisonal pong from the plumbing network but you get that every now and then from where ever you are in Barcelona; after the first day you don't notice it and it just blends in with this super city. Overall hotel is good but slightly overpriced without brekky, but I guess you pay for the location in any city in the world.

Breakfast was sadly quite disappointing. Also, the drains in and around the hotel emitted a foul odour from time to time. And, at the time of writing, there are roadworks and developments around the hotel. this means that pneumatic drills are used from around 9am onwards.

It would have been nice to have tea / coffee making facilities in room as no bar in hotel, but in all hotel was very good

A great city hotel...large rooms with great bathrooms . Good location , 100 meters from the metro , Gothic Quarter one block away , 10 min walk to the Ramblas along the seafront . Would definately return .

Excellent location, fabulous view from balcony, friendly staff throughout the hotel. Room comfortable, clean and great decour. will certainly return when travelling to Barcelona again!

Very very friendly staff specially at the front desk...and the location is excellent- cannot get better than this. Walking distance from Catalunya, Picasso Museum, the beach and the Metro Station. We had a great time!

This hotel is situated in an area ideal to all tourist attractions. Las Ramblas, Port, Cathedral, all only 5 to 10 minutes casual walk. The Hotel itself has a small 24 hour Reception with extremely helpful staff. The room I had was a very large corner room on the 3rd. floor with 2 windows / balconies, very modern with a quite a big bathroom. A buffet breakfast was included in the price and was good. I would certainly return to this hotel on my next visit. Also, directly across the road is a small Irish pub which really comes to life later in the evening.

This hotel is in an excellent location near railway near sea and near Las Ramblas --all within walking distance Idea for city break. Staff friendly and helpful good buffet breakfast -- I would use it again

A porter service was somewhat importunate. I didn't like being asked straight for tips as a payment for the "service". No complains otherwise. The top floor room had a nice balcony/terrace with a good view.

Excellent location only 5 minute walk to Port Vell/beach, 10 minutes to city centre. Staff very helpful. No minibar in room and as I needed to store medication I was allowed to store in kitchen fridge. Air conditioning only reduced room temp to 21 degrees, lucky for us it was June, not so sure how you would cope in mid August. Buffett breakfast very nice, good value for money. Josie + Paul June 2007
