The Desert Palms Resort evokes as its name suggests a tropical paradise in the middle of a hot dry desert. The peaceful setting with over 700 palm trees and trailing bougainvillea creates a colourful relaxing calming atmosphere. Situated in the Mt. John Valley tourist precinct the property fronts the Todd River and backs onto the beautiful Alice Springs Golf Course. Only 5 minutes from Alice Springs central business district it is ideally situated for visitors who want the advantage of facilities with the added bonus of self-contained accommodation. The individual villas are self-contained with kitchenettes, verandahs and en-suite bathrooms. There is also secure off street parking directly outside each villa, and a licensed mini mart for guest’s convenience. The Desert Palms Resort also has an attractive pool with island, gazebo, waterfall and footbridge to the island, a true oasis in the desert. As well as a half tennis court and large undercover barbecue area. The Desert Palms is truly an outstanding establishment offering a calm, peaceful environment, which creates a sense of relief for the often-weary traveller. The male receptionist was not as friendly as in other hotels we stayed in, he appeared somewhat preoccupied and brief in our registration process. Most hotels/Motels provide a little milk for the coffee upon arrival or in the room not so here. The room servicing was very basic. Even with this experience we would choose to stay there again if we visit Alice Springs.

Nice external layout/grounds. Apart from useful in-room kitchen facilities, very ordinary motel-quality room:- no table and chairs, no windows to open (except the sliding glass door, which locked with difficulty); cheap "bus-station" toilet paper (separate shiny sheets) rather than a roll (which should be a major no-no in any place with pretensions to even a little quality). I probably had one of the cheaper rooms, but for what I got it should have been cheaper still.

Really good feel staying at this hotel. Only problem was that it was too far out of the centre of the town for my purposes. However taxi to & fro was not expensive, but I had to make use of them too often.

Not enough lighting in the room - just one single fluorescent tube for the whole room made it difficult to read in bed. It has a great swimming pool, very friendly staff and good service.

Very poor internal lighting - one fluoro tube at apex of ceiling-less A-frame cabin. Faulty/filthy ensuite ceiling fan.

It's only a short walk to the Botanic Garden which we enjoyed. Generally, the surroundings had a nice relaxing feel, with palm trees and friendly staff.

A reasonable unit for the money, but you do need a car if you stay there. It was a busy weekend and the detached unit had thin wall - you could hear people talking outside.

Good accommodation. Clean & practicable! Well situated (close to casino). Would book again if travelling that side of Australia again. Recommended.

A basic motel room within a small cabin. Well equipped but small kitchen. The only drawback was there were no windows but this would assist in keeping the cabin cool in summer. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Especially with posting mail.

The room was good in country style. 10 minutes walk to the town centre is not too bad.

Room was a bit tired looking and hadn't been cleaned properly - dirty finger marks on kitchen tops/oven etc, bedspread had stains on and smelled fusty, room smelled a bit damp. Service was nice though, they were very friendly!

We thought it was great value for money..facilities were excellent, the rooms offered enough space & catered for all our requirements. The service was flexible & kind. If we go to Alice Spring we will definitely return to Desert Palms Resort Alice Springs.

20 minutes walk to town (40degrees heat), but it has a swimming pool. The cabins are average. Its a fraction of the cost of staying at Ayers Rock and you can travel there on a day trip tour(though 500 kms each way) and still save money.

I would recommend Desert Palms Resort Alice Springs to any traveller seeking good service, good facilities, and in close proximity to the Casino and town centre and all for a very low price compared to other hotels/motels in Alice Springs. I will certainly stay there again.
