As a long time business traveler, I found the Diplomat to be a welcome surprise in its level of hospitality, comfort and thoughtful attention to detail, which makes the hotel a home away from home. Rooms are comfortable, common areas are spacious and relaxing and the staff are genuinely out to make the stay as pleasant as possible. The food is very good as well! I am changing my Canberra preference to The Diplomat.
Overall very comfortable & highly recommended. Front of house staff are excellent. Wifi is very slow. LCD televisions in room are quite small.
The Diplomat's Standard Queen Rooms are an elegant option for the discerning traveller seeking comfort away from home. Rooms feature one Queen Bed.

Location to Manuka is good, but a fair way to the city centre & tourist attractions. Cannot fault the service by the staff, the only down side to the hotel is the limited restaurant menu. Plenty of nice places to eat close by in Manuka & Kingston though. Stayed in a standard queen room, bed was comfortable and there were no issues with the bathroom. Well priced accommodation and would stay again.
Started off good, one receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. The first breakfast we were greeted and asked how we preferred eggs, poached is the best way to go(depends on chef), the plating started with 2 eggs and 2 toast, next day 2 eggs 1 toast, last day 2 eggs no toast!! FOUR star hotel?? Bar closes too early, 10pm when the shutters go down. The Friday night and dinner in the hotel, it was NOT of the quality for the price, also sitting next to people ordering a take-away pizza to their room and the hotel accommodated this! The bar closed early, risotto too wet, lamb shanks were tough, the cheese board was lacking in the menu declared varieties and they were extremely poor considering that some of the local cheeses are better. Loved the receptionist disliked the food and the restriction of the services (bar fridges in a room do not qualify as bar service (at those prices)) AND the TV did not have the full digital spectrum, minor, but!!(4* hotel)
in the en-suite with our room the shower screen on the side of the bath was very poor. It appeared a rubber slat was missing from the bottom of the glass screen allowing a lot of water to escape onto the bathroom floor. This could be very dangerous with children around or for folk not good on their feet. Restaurant food and choice average.
Location good for Manuka etc, but a little way from centre of town and main tourist attractions.
Diplomat was warm and clean. We were travelling with children and it was well located within walking distance to Manuka shops. We have stayed at many hotels in Canberra and the Diplomat was better than many others and offered value for money. It is not a top class hotel but very comfortable and the staff are helpful.
Clean, well priced accommodation in pleasant surrounds.
A clean, conveniently located hotel close to the major attractions and also close to Manuka town centre which is complete with a variety of wonderful restaurants, cafes and stores. With the exception of some night time traffic noise, I could not find fault with the hotel. I would have no hesitations in staying there again.
we enjoyed our stay at the diplomat hotel. it was clean and the location was very close to the art gallery, which was the reason why we went.
very nice rooms, good price and convenient location for those who want to visit museums and parliament. staff could be friendlier though
A quiet, comfortable hotel in a good location. Will return again.
Very helpful staff. Wonderful clean room. Front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing too much trouble.
A very pleasant stay in this very good hotel. Highly recommend to others.
Generally quiet but layout with doors to the central atrium has potential for noise as others wander past. The Reception staff were helpful. The room was clean although a little dated; bathroom small. Balcony good for fresh air. The floor was not vacuumed when made up the second day. Parking is tight undercover.
The only unfortunate experience we had was when ordering food from the dining area. Our recommendation would be that you tried some of the cafes in the small shopping areas. We found this to be a very rewarding experience.
A little noisy from the road, and the swimming pool was out of service unfortunately, although you can hire bikes at what seemed a good rental rate.
Comfortable bed, clean rooms. Could we get bigger TV please? Will come back again. =)
Excellent location close to the trendy suburbs of Canberra. Room was large and very comfortable. Beautiful decor, comfortable bed and lovely touches with chocolate! No stuffy corridors to walk through, as all rooms face the foyer. Friendly staff. Definitely the hotel I will be going back to next time I'm in Canberra.
Lovely place to stay, the staff were extremely friendly and informative, would recomment anyone to stay.
