Distinction Rotorua Hotel & Conference Centre

The Distinction Hotel on arrival looks like a nice place to stay and the staff were really friendly. A good breakfast, nice rooms and clean. However we booked the deluxe room and it appears that they are in the wing that is 30 meters from an intersection on the main road for trucks passing through Rotorua! As the rooms do not have airconditioning and the weather was warm (not hot) you needed the sliding doors on the balcony open until the noise from the trucks required us to shut the doors and turn the ceiling fan on high if any attempt to sleep was to be had.

Lovely clean hotel - friendly welcome, great breakfast - great place for a family - would definately stay again.

This was the perfect base for our family long weekend in Rotorua. The rooms are very spacious and well appointed and the beds were really comfortable. The kids loved swimming in the heated outdoor pool, and were intrigued by the private grotto spa pools. Our family rate was excellent, especially as it included full breakfast for each of us (and not just the continental breakfast, but a cooked one!). Will definitely be staying there again and would recommend the Distinction to anyone going to Rotorua. the only gripe would be the Pavilion restaurant. We booked having checked out the lunch menu and imagining that the dinner menu would be along similar lines - it wasn't. It was pretty expensive with not much choice. Next time we'd eat in the bar, which served the menu we were after. Guess we should've checked first...

The room we stayed in catered to our needs fine but was quite shabby... in need of an update! Other then that, I would stay there again, in a flasher room...

Rooms newly renovated and very comfortable. Breakfast choice excellent and staff helpful. The Hotel clearly has had a number of additions and the only downside was that the only lift was some distance from the rooms but this was a minor detail.

Found that check in was @ 2pm when I requested for earlier check in. Staff were great. Breakfast was excellent. Enjoyed the stay. Thank you for a great but short Easter Weekend.

A little shabby but a pleasant room with good beds and linen. A little out of the way if you do not have a car. Excellent breakfast included with room rate.

Comfortable hotel well located

I asked for a smoking room and was givin a non smoking room but apart from that it was great.

Fantastic stay, the only blemish was the food at the japanese restaurant was not good but there are som many good places in town to eat that it was of little consequence. The staff were amazing and the pool and spa area fantastic. I would recomend a stay here.

A well maintained hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. The in house eating facilities were very convenient duering two days of very heavy rain. A Quite and convenient location for those with a car and positioned such that road noise was limited. Our package was value for money.

This was a pleasant surprise as we have had some problems with hotels booked through the internet. The front line staff were fantastic and very helpful,there were extremely positive and friendly. Dinner menu was well priced, staff excellent. Breakfast in the morning was well serviced and once again the staff were warm and friendly. Would stay here again and highly recommend to others, particularly if you have children.

Nice comfortable beds, no electric blanket though. Room exactly as pictured on the net. The meal at the Maori culture night was very good.
