DOMUS AVENTINA HOTEL ROME

"The hotel was suitable for our needs generally. It was a 5 minute walk to the metro station and the room was adequate. However, if you have ants in your room, as we did, do not expect much sympathy from the staff." - Anonymous

"The hotel has an excellent location in a quiet street but within walking distance to the Coliseum. The service was very pleasant and the facilities were fine, but the room was very small and dark (it was a single room). Expensive for what it was, but apparently hotels in Rome are not known to be the best value for money. Overall, nice enough. I would try again for a double room." - Anonymous

"I booked a weekend here having read others' good reviews, and was surprised at the cheap price. My girlfriend and I stayed in room 21 in late November, when the weather is supposed to be bad (it wasn't when we stayed, though) so the prices may not be so good all year round. We found the hotel excellent in every way - the staff were friendly and helpful, the room large and clean, the bed more comfortable than my own, and there was even a balcony area I wasn't expecting to find. It's ideally located within walking distance of the Circus Maximus in a quiet area, and when I return to Rome I'll certainly look no further than the Domus Aventina. The only small things that could have been improved were that the electricity wouldn't come on when we first put the card in the slot but miraculously did when I asked the receptionist what to do, and that the colour was set too high on the TV and there was no way to change it. As I said, nothing major at all. I'd recommend this hotel to anybody." - David Priestley

"This hotel is supposed to be a converted monastory, I can only asume that duriing convertion all aspects of an earlier life were lost and appart from an ajoining church no historical features were evident. Location is quiet and good for the Collosseum area, otherwise a bit far out for the central attractions." - John Stewart
