Donghwa Hotel Taipei

Very cute interiors with oh so accommodating hotel staff. The main problem is that it is not accessible to the Taipei train station.

We stayed for five days and we enjoyed the stay there hotel staff is very helpful, the tour operator picked us from the hotel even though they have not listed this hotel as a pick up point. Very close proximity to 101. This is value for money, would recommend to any traveller.

Great, friendly service. The hotel is a little bit out of the way, but subway construction is happening in front of the hotel at this writing (12/2008).

As the middle of the road where the hotel is located seems to be the site of new subway line construction, traffic jams getting to the hotel are very common.

It is a very well renovated hotel. Our room was reasonably sized, well refurbished with a clean, nice bathroom. There was a good selection of TV channels, including CNN and AXN. The housekeeping staff is always friendly and will greet you whenever they see you on the corridor. Receiption staff however, is not always helpful and very much depending on who you encounter. The downside is that the closest MRT station is at least 15 mins walk away which could be a hard one after a day out touring in Taipei. We took taxi from the hotel to the Zhongxiao Fuxing station (which is an interchange of two routes) and only costs about 100-150 TW dollars. Overall for the price the hotel is a bargain for its room quality, if you don't mind spending a little more on taxi (which is extremely easy to catch).
