Good value for money, ideal location.
One staff member - Ludmia - was always very helpful. The rest were not interested when we complained, on each of the three mornings we were there, that tables previously used for breakfast had not been reset and food was not re-stocked. Our only advice was to arrive at 7am to get food before people from the two or three tour buses arrived and cleared out the food. There was no compensation for lack of food. Also we had difficulty booking an extra day (the initial booking was for two days and we had to increase it at the last minute). We understood that we had to pay the full rate for the third day including an amount for breakfast (13 Euro each). The 26 Euros was irksome considering there was minimal food as explained above.
Very comfortable hotel. Amazing old restored building.
Great character and very well sited for us
Stayed at this hotel in early December 2008. The hotel is ideally located (two minutes walk from Carcossonne Railway Station) and a five minute walk to Carcassonne City Centre (shopping district) - a 15 minute walk to the walled Medieval City of Carcossonne (which is beautiful). There is a bus transfer from Carcossonne Airport direct to Carcossonne Railway Station. This is a grand old hotel and whilst I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, I felt my room needed a small bit of dusting / cleaning. I would stay there again.
The hotel is in a great location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. However, the standard room we had left a lot to be desired. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, there was no heating in the bathroom-and it was freezing- and it needed a face lift. Hopefully, it will be redecorated.
The hotel was extremely easy to find, right across the road from the bus stop and only about ten minutes on the bus from the airport. The lobby is beautiful. Good value for the price.
This hotel is very central, about 20 mins walk to the walled city .menue is in English which was very good
Excellent hotel with a very elegant and large reception area. We stayed there twice in a week, the second time in a 'superior' room - a very comfortable bed, and it had a bath. However, the swimming pool and jacuzzi were too cold to use.
i was due to stay in a superior room but think very strongly i was staying in a standard room, my point would be, that if it was a superior room then the standard room's are in real trouble. the bar service was very slow, but all in all i was happy with my stay.
The traffic was a bit loud in the morning. But the view was great - we were in a room facing La Cite Will try ask for a room in a different part of the hotel the next time. Overall though, very happy with our stay.
Excellent location for train station, taxi's and bus to airport. No ramp into hotel entrance - needed to lift heavy bag up a few steps!
- towels were very old; bathroom tiny + great view on the historic town + great atmosphere in historic building location is close to the new city center and railwaystation but NOT close to the historic Carcassonne itself.
Opposite the railway,12 Euro taxi from airport. Bus is 5 euros and opposite hotel. Hotel is clean rooms are quite basic. No shower curtain and tiled floor very slippy. Television and aircon. No tea making facilities. Beautiful old world building and interior marble floors. Carcassone cite is 20 mins walk mainly pedestrian, bus every 20 mins 1.50 euros return. Bars and restaurants on doorstep. Public square with occassional markets, though 5mins walk is another square with fountain and regular markets. Swimming pool area in basement is very expensive at 10 euros per day. The canal is right next door with boat trips. If your going, 2 books that you might enjoy: Narrow dog to Carcassonne by Terry Darlington tells the story of two retirees who set ot on a Narrow boat from UK to Carcassonne. Labrynth by Kate Mosse is a Dan Brown type read mixing Carcassone historical fact and a story of the Holy Grail specifically featuring Carcassone even the walk from Railway station past Hotel
Perfect location for us - close to all amenities, transport (trains and buses). The hotel provided a 'welcome pack' which included a map and some discount vouchers for use in the hotel ... especially useful for a long, cool drink after a busy day.
dogs are allowed n hotel i love dogs but dont think they should b allowed free reign of hotel rooms
Great location for the new town and the Train station and a short walk to la cite. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely decor, reminiscent of 1930's glamour but could do with a bit of freshening up in stairways and halls. Would book here again.
Faded grandeur, but without that much grandeur ! Pleasant but not astonishing...perfectly acceptable for the price
Enjoyed our stay, the hotel room was compact but very clean. Staff were very helpful and had a good understanding of english.
Lovely old world hotel, nice staff, good restaurant and ideally located.
