"Duke of Marlborough Hotel is a charming old world style hotel right on the beachfront in Russell, Bay of Islands. A more than adequate buffet cooked breakfast is complimentary with all stays. We ate informally one night on the terrace on the waterfront from the Bistro menu. The food was great. There are a number of other restaurants also right on the beach within two minutes walk. We chose to eat take out pizzas on the beach. We had a standard room which had an ensuite bathroom and satellite TV and a very comfortable queen sized bed with a nice view of Russell and a glimpse of the water. We will definitely go back. " - Philip Galloway
"We stayed at the Duke during the winter season and there were some renovations taking place, this impacted on the available facilities however the hotel had reduced the rates to compensate. the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food of the menu is devine. Stayed there before and will do again." - Paul Hanlon
"Rooms are small but who needs a big room in such a beautiful place!! Wonderful old building with heaps of character. Staff were friendly and the place had a good feel about it." - Charles Stewart
"Great character and an idylic setting on the waterfront, very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff - a must when visiting the Bay of Islands!" - Sarah Bates
