"On arrival we were met off a small plane after two previous flights from Canberra via Sydney and Cairns, to await processing. We were tired, were not offered a drink, not told how long it would take etc. Not a good welcome. The wait service in the main restaurant was abysmal. They were excellent in Terraces. Can't understand why there was such a difference.
However, it is a delightful place to stay and rest and we enjoyed ourselves." - Anonymous
"We got upgraded for free (to a room worth $140 extra per night!!) Service was great, food was FANTASTIC, activities were excellent, except for the Jetski tour which was horrible (if you do it, make sure the weather is good, and let the "guide" know about your experience level). Room was beautiful, lovely and kept quite clean. Even the weather held up! Boat transfer was really good too, all in all an excellent experience! We got engaged on the first night, and I won the karaoke competition LOL! :D" - Narelle Hind
"It was everything we had been expecting, the staff all made the stay even more enjoyable. There was nothing they would not do for us. Well done to them all and the location was paradise." - Angela Gillett
"A level of amateurishness in management. An example was the presence of numerous couples with very young children, yet there was no attempt to separate young from old at evening meal. To make an 8.15pm booking for dinner and have screaming youngsters in the dining room while being presented with an expensive wine list gave one pause for reflection. In general an attractive island resort - expensive, with the profit motive apparent in nearly every leisure activity." - John Little

| Hotel description: |

Dunk Island Resort was known to the first inhabitants as ''Coonanglebah'' - the isle of peace and plenty. Today, the palm-fringed beaches and lush rainforests of this tropical island are ideal for those who want to enjoy time out or the time of their lives. The resort is located in a National Park, and lies midway between Townsville and Cairns, one of a few tropical islands that puts you within easy reach of the Great Barrier Reef.
With so many amazing activities to choose from on Dunk, it''s hard to decide what to do next. Horse-riding along the beach, rainforest walks, catamarans, tandem sky diving, golf, or visiting the Island Farm. For a change of pace, get away from it all to a sun-soaked beach with a gourmet picnic hamper, or indulge yourself at the Spa of Peace and Plenty, with treatments designed to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.
For a family holiday, there are heaps of things to do together, but when Mum and Dad want some time out, the Kids Club gives 3-12 year olds plenty to do. For couples looking for romance, nothing compares to ending the day with a cocktail in hand, watching the perfect sunset.
All 160 rooms are well-appointed with three grades of accommodation, each with beach or tropical garden views. |
