A nice hotel with fantastic views of the river. We stayed whilst the weather was quite wet so couldn't take advantage of the outdoor facilities but the gardens looked beautiful. Good food but the bar was lacking in atmosphere and character.
i had the most wonderful experience stayng at earl regency. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in august .When we checked out we accidently left $1200 in the safe. When we reached Nuwaraeliya 2.5 hrs away in the evening We realized that my money was missing panic striken i called the general manager of the earl regency who was most kind and helpful and immediately started making arrangements to deliver the money.I recieved the money early inthe morning hand delivered by an officer of the hotel in a private car ALL INTACT. This could only happen in the Earl Regency Sri Lanka
It"s a very good hotel, but out of city. When you haven't a car, than you have take a taxi if you want to see the city...
Very good reception and checkout services. Since we left very early our breakfast was packed and available at the check out counter as requested. Dining and music experience was good. Pool was delightful. Spa however was rather pricey. And the 'mini golf' facilities were not maintained at well - it seems they were there just to prime up the hotel rating ! Overall a very good experience.
Accommodation was very good for the price. Amazing scenery but food was fairly average. (Too much attempt to serve international food rather than good Sri Lankan).
The hotel is located at a couple of hundred feet above sea - level. A view of it, from the outside, might be deceptive. The lobby's quite big, the staff at reception and concierge are very friendly, and informative too. The hotel's divided into 2 halves - 1 with the restaurants and coffee shops, the other being the residential part - with a long passage connecting the 2. The rooms are quite big, with a small balcony. The washroom & the linen on the bed - both were very clean. The backless 3-seater sofa also comes in handy. The ceiling fan is a good option spring /autumn .The dinner buffet has a nice spread, the attendants very prompt. I'd love to revisit Kandy just to stay at this place. Only misfit are tv sets, they should be replaced with LCD panels - at the earliest.
Palatial lobby & reception area stunning view down to the Mahaweli and beyond The rooms were very spacious and well furnished, balcony with views of pool, grounds & hills beyond. The large bathroom inc bath & shower, was rather dark, being tiled in black. Rooms equipped with A/C, TV, telephone, well stocked mini bar. lighting in rooms was dim. All linen & towels changed daily. TV only had non English speaking channels. Restaurant commanded fine views but the evening menu was just the choice in the buffet. Big downer was not being able to get a glass of wine or other alcoholic drink due to Perahera festivities. Breakfast menu was very good 1st class bacon! Plusses: Décor, staff service & hospitality, setting. Minuses: Food at evening meals, dim lighting, “dry” zone. Very overpriced in comparison to other hotels of a similar standard. (Perahera week) Chanting from nearby Buddhist monastery at 5.30am followed by call to prayer from a mosque across the valley at daybreak.
