Good position for City travel (bus & train), Museum station about 10 min walk. Room clean and updated since last stay, so would recommend.
Perfect Service, Room Nr.3 not so good, inside a sign for non smoking, room stunk very very much, the bar under the hotel was loud.Room very smal, Window hard to open.
its a nice place to stay but very hot rooms, has air con, but can be noisy to have on. i have stayed a few times now , i dont mind it there, but the last time i stayed my son and i were both up most of the night due to the heat and there was something in our bed that was making us extremely itchy, n have an allergic reaction, we had to take antihistimines, the next day. but apart from that it is a great place to stay with lots of character, and frendly staff.
A perfect base for Sydney. Rooms are small but adequate and the staff very friendly and helpful. I always stay here when in Sydney and tell all my friends too.
good value for money
This hotel is convenient to the inner city, clean and cheap. Basic ammenities but for the price I can recommend it.
My room is very bad location as it has all air condition machine line up over through my window and it's noisy at night so couldn't get good nice sleep at all.
Excellent hotel centrally located
A bit rundown and noisy. It's a misnomer to call it a boutique hotel. It badly needs renovation/refurbishing.
it is a very old hotel. instead of paying $20 for a backpacker's bed, macquarie is an option as a high end backpacker hotel. you can have your privacy, own bathroom, fridge for $80/night. you don't have to worry about losing your stuff. location is excellent which is 1 block away from museum subway and the hotel is literally in the central business district. for $80, do not expect a 3 star hotel but a 1.5 to 2-star unit.
This hotel was ok if you just wanted a very basic place to stay for a couple of nights. The h otel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast of cereal and toast was fine. The staircases, corridors etc were a bit scruffy, but the bed was clean and comfortable. Definitely not a place to stay if you want any sort of luxury! It did the job - thats about the fairest comment I can make.
nice hotel, had lots of character, good location - walking distance to the city and train station, as well as Oxford Street - convenient for grabbing a bite to eat on the way home. Only problem I had was that I am pretty sure I had asked for non smoking, and on two nights of our stay smokers were put in the room next door - which might not have been an issue except there was an old door betwee the rooms which was not quite blocked off. Had dinner from Alice's Restaurant one night. a really nice meal for the price - and the convenience.
This is a typical Australian "pub" with accommodation above. The rooms are basic a bit spartan and of odd sizes. The elevator is often out of service and requires a special key in order to operate it which is very inconvenient. The hotel is conveniently located and represents reasonable value at the budget end of the market.
Very charming hotel, loved teh stay here
Great location, great price, rooms were clean and tidy. Very impressed that there was a hair drying in the room!
I get disappointed when i travel to Sydney for business and I can't stay at the Mac. It has everything I require: great price, great service: great facilities and great location. You don't have to leave the hotel if you want with a great Thai resturant, cafe and pub all in the same building. All the guys I work with now stay at the Mac as well and they all love it.
The Macquarie Boutique Hotel Sydney is well positioned and easy to find in the CBD. Nice rooms and breakfast thrown in is a nice touch the larger and more expensive hotels could learn from. One word of caution though - the hotel ia still a working pub with bands that play into the night. Take care if you do not carry ear plugs when travelling!
Good bed and plumbing with friendly staff, cheap and close to the centre of town. Upmarket backpackers in a 19th century pub. Colorful, comfortable. The included continental breakfast includes real espresso coffee - a real plus! Upgrade to a cooked breakfast for only AUD$ 5.00 - great value.
