" The location is very good - right at "The Lido", a path along the cliffs just west of the city with bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice, and the rooms are large. You don't really get a local feel - it is rather generic. If you want that, go to a quinta or historic inn. The property is not "on the beach" (there is no beach so to speak on the island - it's volcanic, so lava cliffs are the norm). It is set back a bit from the sea. if you wish to swin in the sea, there is access very near. From what I could see, The Eden Mar was a very good choice compared to other resort hotels in the area - more low key, if you could say that." - Brian Ordelheide
