Edgewater Resort & Spa Rarotonga

This is my 6th visit to the Cook Island. I only required this room for one night as I had an early morning flight from Rarotonga back to Auckland. This was my second stay at the Edgewater and again I left feeling disappointed, mainly due to certain staff, not being well informed and having previous guests food left in the room. I checked in to the hotel at 1pm, the check in staff agent was lovely, I organised transfers from the hotel to the airport with her, collected my room key and went to the room. My room and it's amenities were lovely, the studio apartment was spacious and exactly what I would prefer for a long stay. However, on closer inspection there was no bottled water (which you can be charged for) in the room and there was a block of frozen camembert in the freezer (I'm guessing from a previous guest). I had a lunch to go to so quickly had a shower which has great water pressure. On the way out I spoke to a woman on the front desk and explained that there was no bottled water in the fridge and the leftover cheese in the freezer. She said "you haven't been charged for the water" then spoke to the staff member next to her and they gave me a form to fill out. No apology at all. I was advised that they would raise it with housekeeping if I fill out the form - with my customer feedback. Customer service 101, do something about the issue right then and there, or at least look like action will be taken and also apologise even though it wasn't your fault directly. I returned back later that evening to grab my luggage and take my transfer to the airport. I was not informed of a price when I booked the transfer, however learned that it was NZD20.00 per person. I had just assumed that the transfers were included in the room rate. There were two of us and had I known it would be NZD40.00 total I'd have just taken a cab. As above rooms, amenities and facilities are good at the Edgwater, staff was the let down on this occasion. I will not stay here again.

Husband & I enjoyed staying here. Food selection was good, convenient and priced reasonably. Renting a car was easy as Budget on premises. Staff very friendly. Good 'middle of the road' priced accommodation and convenient location. If i visited again, would probably try another place to compare.

Hotel was good but too many kids & pool was too small. Food was excellent!!

I was in one of the garden rooms which was fine since not going to spend much time in a room on tropical island! Bed was ok and good air-con / fan to keep cool. Location pretty good close to airport and town plus other resorts. Pricing not the cheapest for drinks we spent a lot of time at bar down the road... Food not the best so ate out mostly - higly recommend Alberto's. Still good resort for kids as plenty of activities and other kids running around. Had a bit of trouble on checking out as they didnt had confirmation I had paid xxxxxx and also I had to point out the $100 credit that came with the booking. Would likely stay somewhere a bit smaller if make it back to Raro again.

Our holiday was all the more fantastic by staying at the Edgewater - it was perfect!

You must stay here!!! Excellent location beside the beach with outstanding free snorkelling facilities. The island bus comes directly to the lobby BUT dont use the airport shuttle provided by the hotel - it is ten times as expensive as the bus which calls at the airport. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Raro is hot so you need a/c. this probably needs a superior room.

Lovely place, with friendly and helpful staff. So nice to receive a complimentary upgrade on arrival with no mention of it either. The resort felt a little tired and could do with a face-lift, and some of the facilities, like the gym, were not really functional, but otherwise we had a great time with some great snorkelling right infront of the hotel.

Great location on the sheltered side of the island. We were in the new accommodation so great rooms situated right on the beach. The main hotel is a bit tired and dated though. Staff great.

We thought that the resort was a little tired, but is undergoing a face lift to the gardens, common areas and external buildings. Rooms are regular hotel rooms. Location, outside dining experience and view are fabulous.

Well rcommended all round good resort hotel. I booked a superior which was fine but upgraded to a ' superior luxury' room which was slightly larger and with a spa bath but the main reason for my upgrade was for a larger bed. most had 4' 6" beds even the luxury rooms.
