Empire Hotel & Country Club Bandar Seri Begawan (The)

I loved the Empire but compared to other five star hotels the facilities are under par. Although very comfortable the buildings and out houses are starting to look their age. On a positive side, the airconditioning is excellent and for those who like a nice comfy bed, this hotel is for you. Eating at this hotel I found very hit and miss. My favourite restuarant was Li Pong an Asian eatery which was cheap compared to others. The best thing was it was a hot meal and the staff were superb. I ate at all other eateries but none of which lived up to my five star hopes and dreams. Food was often cold, salads looked like my rabbit had got to them or had been sitting ont he counter for a good few days. I would recommend you stay closer to these town or Gadong if you intend on paying cheaply for meals and transportation. In all a fantastic stay, but definitely not up to a five star standard as I was expecting, thus I would say this hotel is over priced and overrated. I also stayed NYE at this hotel. The hotel went from a few people staying to being overloaded with lots of children. Needless to say that weekend I did not venture to the pool or beach. It seems long weekends and these types of events are very popular for locals. I would give it a miss on these big ones and go during down time if rest and relaxation are your thing and not the sound of screaming children and slamming doors.

Empire will always in my top list to consider for Brunei trip. I felt like KING when stay in this luxury hotel. Luxury experience with affordable cost.

Everything was superb! had a great experience and definitely a best place to relax and release stress. Strongly recommended for whoever visiting Brunei!

We stayed in an Ocean View Room in the West Wing, 4th floor for 4 nights. Absolutely stunning experience all round, room service was faultless and speedy, staff at every level were so friendly and smiling, spaggatinis was just the best (had the lamb chops and rissotto, would have loved just one glass of red though!) Excellent Gym, nice walk paths, buggy service to take you anywhere in the grounds you wanted, great main pool, could go on and on about more. Their taxi's are black or white Mercedes Benz's and this just adds to the feeling of all round luxury you feel. IF you have to leave the resort to satisfy your curious side, don't stay away too long, this place is the showpiece of Brunei in our eyes.

The hotel's website fails to do it justice! Sumptuous is the only word to describe it. After a massive (included) brekfast, it takes all the resources of the Country Club with ten-pin bowling, ping-pong and badminton to keep you in shape. I am not a golf tragic, so did not take advantage of the driving range or 18 hole course.

Service was great except that food service at restaurants were bit slow. Though no need to hurry, we were so hungry after great activities such as free kayaking and bicycles:) Also, location is beautiful, ocean view, but since it is bit far from everygthing else such as city, airport, etc.....hoped if they had option of free shuttle bus, addition to rather expensive taxi. Pricing is not at all expensive, consider quality of the facility:)

The Empire Hotel is the pinnacle of service. Every staff member is dedicated to providing you with the best possible experience imaginable. The staff ratio is exceptional and there is nothing they will do to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The facilities are first class from the exceptional golf course to the exquisite dining option. This place is simply not a hotel, it is an experience. There are so many activities to keep you occupied or just stay in your fully serviced room and never leave! I'll be definitely going back, and staying longer next time.

Everything about the hotel was great, friendly staff, clean rooms, all facilities were great and we had a wonderful time during our stay

The hotel and country club are a fabulous experience. The staff are excellent, the accomodation is first class and the food is the best you could have. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel special and a great holiday.

Splendidly run hotel, extremely friendly & helpful hotel staff, delightfully quiet location.Only one complaint wish they would use fresh local produce and change the menus or have FRESH local produce on the menu, instead of everything out of the deep freeze.

Beautiful facility with its own Cinema, bowling alley and beach. Also a large salt water lagoon and excellant dining. Staff were all very pleasant and we had a very good experience.

We only stayed at this Hotel for 1 night and it was excellent except for the food which we found no so good.Also they should have some sort of shuttle service into the city, but the facilities at the Hotel are excellent.We enjoyed our 1 night there.

This is the most beautiful hotel I have visited!! Ever!!!! Everything was just perfect! All honour to the staff!! All of them! We were treated as royals! We will definitely go back! The only negative thing was that the WIFI was very expensive! Hope they have done something with that next time! Thank you Empire, we will never forget!!

Service and cleanliness need to be improved for a 6-star hotel.
