Escale Oceania Vieux Port Hotel Marseille

Stayed at a 2-star in Vieux Port earlier in the trip and it was dismal even though it was recommended in several guide books. This hotel had an equally great location (right next to the subway, very close to the bus terminal, very close to shopping and tourist stuff). Room was clean & neat. The bed was comfortable. Looks like a fairly modern room. Wifi worked well. Staff was helpful providing suggestions.

Very, very basic, could do with a makeover inside but really nice helpful staff. Location was excellent, the best part of Marseilles -which is not a very pretty city. For the price I would have expected the place to be a bit less grotty. Had 4 young children and they gave us adjoining rooms which had proved hard to find. Easy access to shopping, dining and the metro, 2 stops from Gare St. Charles

Great position, adequate facilities though a little old. Good solid service. Reasonable for the price though did expect something a little more up to date. Overall a good experience though!

Very small lobby/registration area so gets a little congested at checkout/checkin time. Staff friendly and helpful and spoke English. Very near the port where ferries left from and sightseeing tourist train only about 2mins across the road.

Very comfartable and quiet room despite the roadworks going on. Excellent location and good amenities for a 3 star hotel. Good choice and quantity for the buffet breakfast.

Location is very difficult to upstage as it is literally 100m from the Old Harbour (Vieux Port) and less than a 5 minute walk to an almost overwhelming choice of good quality (yet affordable) restaurants. It is also less than a 1 min. walk to the nearest Metro station and the Tourist Info. Office is literally just across the road.

Great location in the port area.

Perfect location for the port and nearby railway station. My mother who is 61 stayed there with an elderly friend and found the location perfect for their needs. The view was beautiful and they found it very peaceful. They said the staff were very cooperative and helpful as well as being very polite. The would like to return there.

Very good quality-price ratio. Location is top (next to the old port) and next to a subway station. Rooms are clean, neat and pretty. Next visit to Marseille, we will book this hotel again.

We were very pleased with the excellent position of the hotel and the view from our comfortable room over the port and market. Although we could only speak English, the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is fine...we walked from St. Charles train station and it's all downhill! It took us about 20 minutes. It was a pleasant way to stretch after the train ride. The metro stop is right next to the hotel, not a block over as it appears on most maps. The multilingual staff are a pleasure to deal with. The breakfast buffet is super satisfactory and was available until 10 AM. The rooms do not conduct sound and the hot water was availale 24 hours a day. They do not replace individually wrapped soaps each day, so if you put it in your luggage the first day, you'll have no more for the duration of your stay!! The hair dryer unit has an American style 115 v. outlet on it which was great since I left my adapter at home. The rooms are a good size, not cramped at all. Great view from the balcony of the harbor and parts of town. The pillows were really flat, but could be folded up nicely if you need a higher one. Over all, a most acceptable place to stay.

nice location, very helpful personnel. If you need a silent location to sleep in- this is not your place. The main street is right below the windows of the main facade. Good value for money!

A very good 3 star Hotel in an excellent location. If back in Marseille we would use hotel again.
