Old hotel in poor condition. Beds very uncomfortable. Would not recommend for more than an overnight/transit stop. Cheap for the area though and does have free parking - if you can find a space.
This is a very tired hotel that needs refurbishing. The decor is very 1970s and badly needs a facelift. However, it was adequate for an overnight stay. I made a mistake with my booking and arrived a day after the booking. Whilst I lost that payment the staff offered me the 'repeat visitor's rate' which did save a bit. The restaurant was OK but I felt it was overpriced for what I got, but of course anything in £sterling is expensive in $AUD. There is a 24 hour shuttle service to Gatwick which is quite a distance so allow plenty of time to get there to catch your flight.
The restaurant and associated bar should have a common cash till; two bills, one for food and another for drinks is very inconvenient.
Cost is the key factor for using this hotel if flying out of Gatwick. However car parking was a problem as car parks full of long stay holiday makers leaving no room for that day's guests.
The hotel was in a good enough location for Gatwick Airport and on the whole it was comfortable enough. The restaraunt was just ok and so was the service. Fuzzy local TV on a tiny screen was funny, and the carpark was a pain. As a place to bed down at a budget for Gatwick, it works. For romance, a good dinner, or a little luxury try elsewhere.
For an overnight stay near gatwick airport this hotel is very convenient. Free bus transfer to airport and back makes it very easy.
The first impression of the Europa Hotel was excellent. The Hotel is set in beautiful gardens with an attractive appearance. The interior was of a reasonable standard; although showing some need of small renovations. The room provided was entirely acceptable for the rate paid. The concern shown by Hotel staff for their guests was however disappointing. Dinner was an arduous process having to pay in advace for each course and refreshment; with a member of the restaurant staff seating himself at an adjacent table when closing time of 9:45 approached and making it apparent that I should leave. Although I registered for the free transfer bus to the Airport the reception staff made no attempt next morning to advise me that the arrangements with the bus had been changed and leaving me with a £15:00 taxi cost to catch my flight. The total unconcern shown by the Hotel staff to this situation was most regrettable.
The hotel is clearly in need of redecoration ....which i think may be underway. The access to Gatwick is excellant particularly through the availability of the free bus service.
Buses not frequent when coming in late flight to the hotel - but they are 24 hrs available - Great to have a bed when getting in late from a flight
Good hotel facilities courtesy bus good service hotel needs upgrading paint wall paper and carpets are all well worn
Smoking area is too close to none, should be no smoking in all areas. Staff that speak better English.
Was good
Pleasant garden. However, all decor and woodwork extremely tired. Woodwork badly scratched and wallpaper dirty.
Great location for Gatwick, but a little 'tired' in its decor.
A good spot for those in transit via Gatwick airport, with good food and bar
This hotel needs a update, all the furnishings are dated and drab! Check in was simple enough, but the staff don't seem to know where your room is, its a maze of corridors but eventually I found my room myself! Breakfast was good delivered to room at 4am as requested. Free airport shuttle was very handy it leaves every 45 mins from each direction. Overall its fine just for 1 night.
This was a hotel that did the job of providing a bed while you overnighted for your plane. Food, service, staff ok. Rooms ok but common areas needed refurbishment.
We checked in so late at night they gave us a reduction which was nice. Convenient for the airport.
A lovely hotel to start our holiday. Fantastic value for money and child friendly.
