Evergreen Laurel Hotel Penang

Hotel is near eateries - but far from tourist spots. Penang should be more accesible on foot as the taxi price haggling is a hassle.

The hotel located at the other end of Gurney Drive, had an exhausting walk to the plaza and hawker food. Receptionist not very helpful in providing information.Doormen were however much more friendly and helpful.Had a short blackout at the hotel which lasted 45 minutes, I was surprised as I had never expected that this hotel did not even have a standby generator, many room guest were left in a lurch not knowing what was happening. Total pitch dark in the rooms.

Location is great! Beautiful sea view. Modern decoration, clean room. Its just the shows on television is shown is quite disappointing. Should have more choices.. Understanding that fridge drinks shall be charge, but its just a pack of coffee or a pack of tea is also charged and quite expensive if you want to compared to what you bought from the supermarket or 7eleven.. But, overall everything is good! 20mins walk from the shopping mall. Theres starbucks or other shops beside the hotel.. I will go there again!

I rated good to allow room for improvement. Excellent location with famous restaurants like seafood, Bah Kut Teh, Tim Sum, Western with delicious desserts. Hawker food like prawn noodle & Loh bah are also very good. About 15 minutes walk to Gurney Plaza & Hawker Centre with many varieties of food. It would be excellent if hotel can provide free shuttle service to Gurney plaza. Walking distance to Burmese & Thai temple. Excellent seaview. Highly recommended.

Everything is good except no WiFi at hotel room.

Hotel was chosen after visiting [competitor] the hotel is#4 in penang/georgetown and absolutely worth to go there. everything nicely and perfect. we come back!

Very convenient if you want to stay within walking distance to Gurney plaza for shopping. The hotel had met our expectations. Comfortable, clean, good service

The room & pillow is ok but i thought the room & hotel is too dim. Maybe, a choice of white light could have been install for reading purposes. The Yellow light is too dim to read.

Fantastic value for money. Excellent service with extremely good buffet at lunchtime and evening. We will stay there again.

Right on Gurney Drive and close to the Gurney Hawker area. Nearby to good shopping. A very enjoyable few day spent overlooking the Penang harbour area.

our 3 night stay at the evergreen laurel was defineately a most relaxing and satisfying experience, we enjoyed most of the facilities, including the sauna, spa, also the added bonus of gymsasium, and super large swimming pool, we were certainly impressed with the entire deal, and shall be returning around may.

+ very nice view, if you choose a sea view room. very rich breakfast for Asian people especially. A popular location also for locals in the weekend. Good location for having a walk by the sea side. Good value. Clean. - European style foods are very limited for breakfast. Heavy traffic around the hotel, especially in the week

Excellent hotel for the price, with friendly helpful staff. Breakfast gets very busy, pool could be better with more sun beds and shades. Located very near Gurney Plaza shopping mall. Ask for a sea view room as the view is spectacular. Clean and tidy and good value for money.

A good quality hotel with a good location on Gurney Drive, close to cheap eating places and shops. Buffet breakfast which was included in the price had a variety of food on offer. Most importantly, the non-smoking rooms were truly 'non-smoking'. They smelt fresh and clean. Would go back there again if the rates stay affordable.
