First Hotel Taipei Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

Location is very convenient. Service and breakfask is satisfactory. But don't expect too much inside the room, it's pretty old.

3.4 out of 5

The price is cheaper through hotelclub but the room they give is not as nice as the one when you book with the hotel itself.

Good hotel in downtown area. Very clean, with well appointed rooms and friendly helpful staff. My wife had previously insisted that we stay again at the Novotel near the airport, but after our stay here, she was very happy to have saved the price difference - half the Novotel price.

The hotel is good for a business trip as it offers a adequate room and it well located in Taipei. The hotel is old though and the rooms show the wear and tear of the years. Overall the staff was very helpful and the room was cleaned every day.

A little old. It looked like someone had tried to pick the lock on the hotel room door! The electricity points in the room were also a worry. Otherwise it was very clean and comfortable with free internet access.

The hallways had a heavy smell, a mixture of renovations and dusty odours. The room however clean and odour free. Reception misadvised a guest that I was away because they got no response from my room phone. The receptionist in fact dialled the incorrect numbers and caused my guest to wait over one hour in the lobby until I queried the front desk about my expected visitor. Wireless internet access was excellent, no need for password.

If you don't mind the smell of incense, old facilities, and toilets that don't flush then this hotel is worth the low price tag. Some reviews have likened First Hotel to Worst Hotel...it is a tad on the grimy side so it depends how much you are willing to endure for a cheap room.

A 15mins walk away from the nearest MTR which is Zongshan. Room's comfortable with toiletries provided. simple breakfast buffet. For Vegans or vegetarians, There are 2 great vegetarian Buffet restaurants between the hotel and MTR station.

The toiletry is very limited - no shower cap is provided. Even I asked for one, they only gave me one for 3 days' use. On the first day, the basket holding the toiletry was wet through - the towel and the soap inside the wrapping box were all wet. Some fixture is quite old and torn. Location is fine, it is about 15 minutes' walk from the nearby MRT station. Breakfast is very basic. The breakfast time is from 7am to 10am. But when you arrive at around nine, you can't find much refill.

our initial flight was cancelled and they didnt charge us for the night we couldnt stay, very much appreciated. over-all the room (ours was the elite) was fantastic for the price, much better than the modest 3star rating they have listed. location is not ideal, but taxi's are so cheap it was never an issue. no more than 10mins to anywhere we wanted to go. the breakfast however was very basic- infact the hotel was joined to a doutor coffee shop so the breakfast was just a coffee and sandwich from there. they did have a restaurant too and we had the buffet one morning, but it was very average. they had good security, with a guard at night - which i think they needed as we noticed groups of youths congregating in the area at night, so watch that. id say bang for buck this hotel was great! and definitely worth the little extra money over the other budget places on offer.

One of the cheapest hotels you find in Taipei. Staff are very friendly with an excellent location. Not close enough to the MRT but cabs stop outside the hotel regularly. It costs next to nothing to cab to Taipei main station, Ximen district where food and entertainment is. Around $150NT to cab to the new eastern district and Tonghwa night market.

The elite rooms are way better then buisiness and for the cost of the upgrade i found it very reasonable. A bit of a walk to the MRT around 15 to 20 min. Aprox 140 nt to 101 by cab, which is about $4.50 canadian. Friendly service and breaky was average. Low cost shopping in the area for clothes. Cheers and good travels

The offered rate i got from RatesToGo is much lower than the standard rate! The receptionist mistaken our 2 room bookings as 1 room but they solved the problem in a VERY professional and speedy manner. MAKE SURE you book rooms at the higher levels that offers 5 star-standard newly renovated rooms. I surely will go back.
