we stayed for four nights at The Fontana Hotel and found the staff exceptionally helpful, to all our needs and suppliying information for us. It was very clean and the position of the hotel looking over both sea and the square was a top place to be .

Great location, but pretty basic rooms and facilities

Fantastic location. yes the bells do ring but they stop at 930pm and the double glazing is great. the reception lady was fantastic very helpful breakfast just what you need best coffee we had had for weeks. The breakfast ladies althought spoke little english, always knew who we were would recommend this hotel for those staying 3-4 nights in amalfi....buses and ferries so close..loved the area. Great find.....

Great location, right in piazza. However the church bell tower rings every 15 minutes from 6.00 a.m. which is disturbing. Ask for a room with ocean views and you might not hear it so loudly. Loved Amalfi and would stay there again. Good breakfast. Two flights of steps to reception. Light luggage is a must.

Nice hotel, nothing special, but at this price in this location quite a bargain. I had a room at the side of the hotel and could (just) see the sea in one direction and the Duomo in the other. I would certainly stay there again.

Good size room with sea view. Excellent and friendly service from all staff - Receptionist spoke fluent english. Very good breakfast which made it a good value hotel. Restaurant underneath hotel was excellent, particularly for fish dishes. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is located right on the main square of Amalfi and is central to everything you need, restaurants, buses to other places along the Amalfi coast and the ferry port. Breakfast is great and the staff were attentive, friendly and willing to help where possible. Try and get a room above the first floor as the breakfast area is quite noisy in the mornings. Aside from that - for the price you pay - you couldnt ask for anything more of this hotel!

My bride and I stayed at the Hotel Fontana in September for the first part of our Honeymoon. We will forever say we couldn't of had any better fortune with were we chose for our stay. We had an overlooking balcony to the waterfront, a beautiful room with adjacent living room. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The location was absolutley perfect. In the center of town, 30 second walk from the beach, restaurants everywhere!! Truly Romantic A+++

Great location ... hop off the bus and 2 mins walk into the Square and you're there! Our room overlooked the Town Square which was great. Be prepared for steps into the Reception Foyer, then more steps up to your room (but this is fairly normal in Europe). Head Receptionist was friendly and helpful, and suggested a local bus ride into Ravello (which was a great day out) - The breakfast was good. Overall good value and we would stay here again.

Nice, clean & tidy, never availed of the continental breakfast so I can't comment. Noisy early in the mornings because its right beside the main square in Amalfi & only accessable by bus or taxi from the nearest main towns. Over all no complaints & found the staff to be very nice.

Clean hotel, good rooms, great location for Amalfi. No lifts though so make sure you can carry your bags up the stairs!

This hotel's draw is its location - right on Amalfi's main piazza, virtually at the foot of the cathedral steps, and just across the road from the beaches one way and bus and ferry stops the other. The staff are pleasant and helpful, although non-Italian speakers should beware that not all of them are fluent in English. The town abounds in wonderful restaurants and the people are pleasant and friendly. My tip would be to get the ferry to the town rather than the bus - it's a bit more expensive but far more enjoyable and much quicker.

We loved everything about this hotel, but be warned - they do not tell you that you have to pay for the garage parking either when you book, or when you first arrive. We thought that the garage parking was part of the inclusive cost, but after a 5 night stay were charged 80 Euros, which had to be paid in cash. Apart from that, it has to be a top location for this coast.

This is a magical hotel in a magical place. Definitley stay here!!!!! The rooms are spacious with gorgeous views. The staff are friendly, everything is clean and the breakfast is really good. Our shower was terrible, but apart from that I can't fault this hotel. We're going back!!!
