Ideally situated in King Edward Street, Dunthat Motel is on the main bus route to the City and is close to shops and restaurants. Only a 10-minute walk to the Edgar Sports Centre, Kettle Park, St Kilda beach, Ice Skating Rink. All of our rooms are smoke free.

Getting there:Directions: Dunthat Motel is situated at 353 King Edward Street, Dunedin. Follow the instructions below when arriving from North of Dunedin City or from Southland, Central or the airport. From South of the City (including airport): Follow the signs into Dunedin. At the end of the Southern Motorway turn right into Andersons Bay Road, go under the railway overbridge. Turn right at the third set of lights by the McDonalds sign. Continue to next set of traffic lights and turn left. Pass through the next intersection. Dunthat Motel is next door to Health Centre. From North of Dunedin: Once you come off the Northern Motorway continue onto the one way street system through Dunedin (after several blocks you will pass Dunedin Railway Station on your left). Continue on this road (best to stay in left hand lane until you have passed the exit to Southern Motorway and then move into right hand lane (you are now in Andersons Bay Road) and follow the above directions.

This is a great place to stay, very clean and spacious, so long as you don't expect lots of amenities. Beds are comfortable, but a little way from centre of town so best for someone with a car.
Awesome place, awesome location and awesome people running it. So impressed my friends are booking back in during February instead of the Southern Cross and will Taxi to their event at the Town Hall.

An older type motel which is apparently a converted nursing home , very spacious rooms and friendly service , unlicensed and no dine in facilities , a little bit away from the CBD area , which is easily accessible by bus .
Good proximity to Edgar Sports Stadium
This was excellent value for money, from the outside this doesn' t look too inviting however once inside you will know it is quite unique. The hosts are great, really helpful, warm and friendly and all very clean.

Our room was quiet and had a pleasant outlook to a courtyard.We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the modern ensuite.We would definitely stay here again.
From the outside it looked horrible, and I almost drove away to find somewhere else. Inside however was very presentable, and the guest comments book made me want to look further. Perhaps a pool table or something could be set up in one of the lounges for guests to use.
Located in South Dunedin just a short drive from the city centre. Do not be put off by the external appearance - this was one of the best places during our trip to NZ. The room was very large, with a kitchenette, and immaculately cleaned. The supermarket is 2 streets away, and there are several restaurants about 100m down the road. Continental breakfast for $5 (cereals, toast, jam/marmite, tea/coffee/juices). Jim and his family made us feel so welcome - thank you! Would definitely stay here again without a doubt.
Excellent value for money, very clean and comfortable. A very adequate breakfast, at a very cheap price. Would stay there again.
A pleasant change from most of the hotels and motels I have stayed at. Thought it would be noisy but slept like a log. Would come back again.
