The hotel is very nice: great view of bay and mountains from the window, a short walk (at most fifteen minutes) from downtown, a 24 hour grocery store and a bank to change money right around the corner. The staff--Katrin in particular--is absolutely incredible. They organized my bus ride to the Blue Lagoon (even happily changing my pickup time twice as my plans changed) and reserved a car for me to rent. They also had great advice about what to do and what to see. I stayed in another hotel on my last night in Iceland. It cost twice as much as FossHotel Baron, but it just couldn't compare.
Great hotel, lovely rooms with character. Furnished to reflect the historical era of the hotel. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was good.
Staff was very nice and helpful and they made it easy to book any day trips.
Close enough to the center of town and pretty good value considering how expensive iceland is.
Given the chain affiliation and star rating I was expecting a little more. Furniture, decor, and carpet need updating; lobby and overall ambience very bland. It does come en suite, though, and the location is city center so I could do with the lack of upkeep. Front desk persons were young, hip type, whom although pleasant and accommodating weren't necessarily jumping out of their seats for service. Overall, decent hotel for the discounted price I received.
Location was very noisy as the room was above a 24hr convenience store. no block out blinds which isnt the best for a hotel in Iceland. The rooms were budget but reflected the price.
This hotel is clean and modern, a good deal for Reykjavik's extreme high rates- however, the room we stayed in was incredibly small. It was tiny as it was, but also cut short by a sharply angled roof, with no windows but two skylights. It should have been discounted over other rooms for these reasons.
Fairly good hotel. Excellent location. Shame about the green carpet though! Looks dated and a bit dirty.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It was very convenveniently positioned being just 2 minutes walk from the main shopping street and also right next to the sea. Our room had lovely views across the bay to the mountains beyond, although our daughter's room had a view of the carpark which was less inspiring! The staff could not have been more helpful and we booked all our excursions through the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and included in the price we paid. However we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening as it was rather expensive. The only negative was that rooms do not have kettles or drink making facilities. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again we ever have the chance to revisit iceland.
