Riva degli Schiavoni 4110 Castello 30122 VENEZIA
The Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth, a XIV century palazzo, one of the most exclusive hotels in Venice, is run by the Perkhofer family who can boast of 150 years in the hotelkeeping trade. The interiors, spacious and elegant, have period furnishings and exquisite Murano glass, in an ambiance typical of the great Venetian residences. Guests from all over the world have stayed here, including Franz Kafka. Polichrome marble adorns the walls and floors of the halls and bar where you can sip not only the typical 'Spritz' but specialty cocktails like the Gabrielli, the Bellini or the Rossini. On summer days the courtyard in flower is the ideal place to have breakfast or dine by candlelight. In another courtyard is a beautiful well, probably from the late Byzantine era. On the hotel's terrace, from a comfortable chaise longue, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lagoon. But the real jewel of the Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth is its enchanting garden populated by palms, roses, wisteria pergolas, aquatic plants in antique stone basins, all dominated by two majestic cedars of Lebanon. The hotel also provides meeting rooms (max 70 people) and is equipped with a water entrance.

Stayed 2 nights during our 2 weeks train ride from Rome, Venice, Innsbruck, Zurich, Milan and back to Rome. Although located at the furthest end of Venice (from Santa Lucia), but there are merits. U take a short ferry ride (minimal stop) which takes u there via the open sea or, u enjoy the 45 mins slow ride and enjoy all the stops! Decent hotel, nice setting and plenty of nice place nearby for pasta or gelato....
Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Elderly owner makes a point of speaking with guests during evening meal. The Hotel was very accommodating when we found it necessary to stay an additional 4 days due to flight cancellation caused by Icelandic volcanic ash. The builiding iis very old and has plenty of character, very much in keeping with its Venetian surroundings. However, whilst it has modern amenities, the decor and style of hotel interior is perhaps a little dated but still very comfortable. This might be regarded as a positive feature by many, for example, my elderly mother and mother-in-law. My only negative comment is that the cost of accessing the hotel's (limited coverage) wi-fi system is quite high.
Very good hotel in need of some updating some rooms look tired 3 time of staying here would stay again great location
A top hotel in a great location. A bit pricey but its worth it. A lovely rooftop area overlooking the canal to relax and watch the sunset.
Old traditional hotel with a lot of character - excellent location and very helpful and friendly staff - would certainly return to this hotel
Excellent hotel very good location and excellent service. First time in Venice and would stay in this hotel again. Very plesant and helpful staff
Staff very friendly & helpful. Location is by docking for the larger boats & parties of visitors, so can be a bit noisey at times. Overall, very satisfied with our stay.
Very helpfull and friendly staff, good location close to Valporetto stop Arsenale. The beds could be a bit softer but we do recommend this hotel.
Poor quality double bed, consisted of twins joined badly. Quite uncomfortable.
very nice hotel
Best location in Venice!
The location is excellent, near to the Arsenale vaporetto stop and a short walk to Piazza San Marco. Convenient for the Giardini too. The building is lovely, partly an old Palazzo. The staff are very friendly, and chatty (if you speak Italian) and warm too. The room we had for our 6 day stay was very large with a lovely marble bathroom which had bath and shower, and we could see the lagoon by leaning out the window. Our room was cleaned very efficiently every day. The breakfast was probably better than we expected, with cheese, ham, cereals, drinks, brioche and of course Cafe Latte. The price we paid was reasonable too. There is a little bar around the corner, and a few streets behind a good selection of restaurants and trattorias not as overpriced as the ones on the front. Overall a very positive experience.
A splendid experience. Plentiful breakfast taken in pretty courtyard, location couldn't be better for transport or sightseeing on foot. Wonderful view from roof terrace. Would highly recommend this hotel and love to return.
Excellent location and easy to find.Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is right on the promanade down from San Marco. The building is very old so the rooms are all different, but it's delightful. The staff is very "old world"...very formal but helpful. I would absoultely stay there again.
The Hotel has a lovely old world feel to it, its very italian, courtyard, roof top garden. The facilities are good, however I saw no evidence of internet access for guests and the information regarding Venice especially this year's Biennale are only fair. Pricing is expensive - as are all things in Venice - drinks especially so. Otherwise we had a very pleasant stay there - location is great, facing the sea. I would stay there again.
An excellent location near to St Marks.Very comfortable and a pleasant staff.
Nice hotel in an excellent position. Close to ferry and nightlife.
Good clean basic hotel of the faded glory type. Good staff, fantastic location,we got a good deal price wise. A perfect base for a long weekend stay to explore Venice and the Lagoon.
The staff is very helpful and friendly
