The Galadari staff were extremely helpful when I asked for help twice. Firstly they gave me a very late check out free of charge, which was very much appreciated, and secondly, when my pre-booked car (from another firm) to the airport failed to arrive they bent over backwards to locate the firm and get the car to the hotel despite local road closures during a VIP visit to the area. However, the room I was in needed some refurbishment but still represented good value for money. Internet access is a bit pricey.
Value for money at $76 because of the amazing buffet breakfast...you can eat your way through 5 or 6 different courses & it's a top quality. The hotel itself has seen better days & looks quite dated, however the gym & pool area are very decent & there are plenty of dining options. For an extra $50 or so you could stay at the Hilton appartments which are much smarter & spacious, however this does not include a huge buffet breakfast.
Our spacious Rooms, Extra Large Beds, Modern ‘Deluxe’ 5 Star facilities that include International Cable TV , Hair dryer, Air conditioning to name a few, that the discerning traveler would expect and more. To cap it all, the breath taking view of the Indian Ocean awaits you, both day and night
We found this hotel to be comfortable, clean and very well situated with efficient and very helpful staff. It suited us extremely well as an overnight stay prior to catching a flight and I would try to stay there again if visiting Colombo. It would not be an ideal choice for some-one wanting 'authentic' Sri Lanka.
Staff is excellent even though had few problems with my room. There was a leak on the vent by the bathroom door, had it repaired the same day but the leak started again later on that night. The last day the hot water run out. reported this and it took 20 mins for the problem to be resolved. They call on your room twice a day (room service) which again is very good. The staff was friendly and polite even the security people was nice. The internet room was very expensive and was open from morning to 10pm. Best use the internet in the city which will save you more than half. Hotel taxi can be expensive but mini taxi are cheaper, use hotel taxi to airport and big shopping spree:) Hope this helps! (",)
It's not perfect, but I've also seen much worse, among hotels that claim a five-star rating. The important thing is that I certainly plan to stay there the next time I visit Colombo.
