A fantastic hotel with good old fashioned service. We will definately stay again.
Service was excellent! Great position. Even the tuk tuk drivers were reasonable.
Overlooks the Patio and offers a view of the Ocean
although very busy, we found this hotel had friendly service, great choice of food and lovely location.
Charming old establishment, but don't pay their internet charges!
Despite reputation, i won't stay there again because the rooms are small and ageing, especially in the old wing. Better value for money elsewhere. Meals were good, though.
It is not possible to find a hotel with more charm and character. While in Colombo, look no further than the Galle Face Hotel.
The location and the style of the hotel is exceptional. You can feel back to the last century
The place is simply dripping with atmosphere; it could well be my favourite hotel in Asia, up against such illuminaries as Raffles Hotel, Hong Kong's Peninsula, and Mandarin Oriental in Tokyo.
We should have stayed in the new wing rather than the classic but we loved the restaurant (Sea Spray) and the grounds and the breakfast area. Would stay there again.
It has a good seaside location and has a good restaurant
New wing is well presented while orioginal building stil maintains its charm
one of the best hotels i have stayed at. having travelled to many countres around the world.
This is a fantastic hotel, located right in the middle of the city. The layout of the hotel is U-shaped with the open side facing the sea -- this makes you feel you are on a relatively deserted island.
It"s an excellent hotel on an excellent location. I recommend it evereybody who is coming Colombo.
After walking through the grand lobby and then being very delighted by the beautiful vista of the breakfast/lunch/high noon tea/dining area, I was very keen to feast my eyes on the ocean views from my Regency internet booked room. This was the only dsappointment. As pulled open the curtains I looked out onto a building, a gun turret and a slice of the ocean. However, the rest of the accommodation and facilities made up for this. I would stay again but next time ask specifically where the room is located before booking. If it is on the outside of the building ask for one right towards the front, closest to the ocean or alternatively ask for a room that faces the courtyard of the hotel.
This hotel must not be missed. The carpet on the main staircase is badly worn, so what! It's old colonial charm oozes from every corner, the staff could not do more, to have sundowners on the terrace and gently discuss the world with the rest of the world is what life should be. My wife and I loved it.
For me this hotel is one of those that is better by evening and night. The verandah and patio have a lovely view and atmosphere from which to have a relaxing drink and snack. The spa provided a fantastic massage and the breakfast the following morning was quite reasonable. This hotel is not all out luxury but still has the charm and class factors that denote character. Would love to go back and try one of their suites.
hotel staff is not friendly. When you exchange your money at casher, never forget to count your money, even in this hotel.
Recently spent Valentines night at the Galle Face in one of the deluxe Regency rooms. It was a great end to our trip to Sri Lanka. The hotel has loads of character and the staff are great. I would definitely recommend the Regency wing as it has been refurbished. Other parts of the hotel are showing the test of time. The 1864 restaurant is fabulous!!!!
Rooms enormous but somewhat "tired" in the old wing. Fantastic ambience next to the Indian Ocean and great service.
