Ganivet Hotel Madrid Guest Reviews

Spacious, well decorated and pleasant, if rather dark rooms, including large bathroom with bath -- excellent value for money. Good location in easy walking distance from old town and tapas district.

the location of this hotel is fantastic. its close to Plaza mayor, Plaza de Sol, the metro station (Toledo) and if you are taking the hop on/hop off bus, the stop for the bus is also 2 minutes away. Staff are very helpful. If u booked the place without breakfast included, it only cost 10EUR for breakfast and u will get a very hearty one!!

A great choice, 2 minutes from Toledo Metro and 10 minutes walk from the Centre of the City. Simple, clean rooms with good bathrooms, strong showers and comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast also. As a central Hotel this is highly recommended.

We (a family of 3) stayed in the hotel Ganivet for 5 nights. The location was perfect as we were walking to most places. The room were made up everyday. But there was no frige or minibar in the room. The staff were not as helpful though. The first night we asked for a shop to buy some water and the receptionist told us all shops are closed, we went for a walk to have dinner and about 10 meter from hotel was a shop that you could buy what you need. The othr time i asked about places to see and they referred us to tourist information. we only had one day breakfast in the hotel and for the price of 9.50 euro was not worthed. All togetherour stay was pleasant and i will stay again in the hotel and recommend it as well.

The hotel is very well located - Plaza Mayor in walking distance, metro station around the corner, but at the same time very quiet. I had a double room for single use which was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom had a decent bath tub. Negative points: the cleaning ladies made a lot of noise just outside my door at 8am (including on Sunday!), the door of the room did not keep out the noise at all. The room was still not made at 3:30 in the afternoon when I came back from sightseeing, and I had to ask at the reception for somebody to come to do it. the telephone did not work (they were going to fix this). Good points: free WiFi (bring your own laptop) which was quite fast, restaurant in the hotel with very reasonable prices (simple but good). I did not have breakfast included, but the restaurant offers cheap breakfast for those who are not into big breakfasts. All in all a good hotel for the price I paid (last minute deal) but definitely too expensive for the normal rate.

Good location. Plaza Mayor is located up the street, probably 7 blocks. Good prices at the bar/cafeteria for quick breakfast or drinks and tapas. We stayed at two other hotels during previous trips and the street noice was extremly loud. Not an issue at the Ganivet. Also, very good TV and programing.

I paid a very good value 75 euros a night, where the hotel states its normal rate is 300 euros, which would have been ridiculously overpriced. Location is not good unless you go everywhere by taxi. The hotel is near Atocha but not Chamartin - though you only need one change to each of them, which is the case for most places of interest (few require no change). The room was excellent: clean, spacious and with a great bathroom, and large TV. Communication was almost non-existent. Attitude at reception was indifferent. I was not been told where the lift was (no signs either). In the room: details of how to work the TV, (pity the only channel in English was CNN, I should have appreciated BBC World), and what was (theoretically) available in the cafeteria. Nothing on Madrid itself (attractions, what's on, etc)in room or lobby, and nothing about hotel facilities. I didn't find the restaurant until my last morning and even then I had to battle my way through a security guard.

This hotel is still reasonably new so it is quite nice. It is quite centrally located with the metro station less than 5 minutes walk away. It is also located on the cheaper side of town.

We had a special offer staying in this hotel. That's why it was cheaper than all the smaller hostels. Very nice and super clean room.
