After reading few negative stories, was slightly concerned! I was pleasantly surprised with everything in fairness. Arrived at 800 in morning and had no problem getting early check in. The room itself was basic but perfect. Bathroom wasnt great but it done the job. Definetly using here again
I booked a single room - the room was very large with three single beds it was the end of November and through my 4 nights stay the radiator in the room would not work - I'm a heating engineer by trade so I know when a heating system is not turned on and this heating system was off - I phoned reception to explain the room was very cold - about an hour later they delivered a very small electric radiator to my room which was not really powerful enough for a room of this size so I had to keep my clothes on all the time I was in the room and had to get into bed as soon as possible. The room amenities where well worn and needed some maintenance updates and there was the stench of smoke in the room some one must have been smoking in the room on a regular basis - the only thing I would praise about the room was the view of the main street Xmas lights as this room was on the front of the hotel (to be continued)
The price was a little bit to expensive for the room we had. We couldn't close the window correctly and there's a draught all the time. But the location was perfect: 10 minutes from the station, 5 from the center.
The hotel is in a good location in central Manchester, and provided a bed for the night. The breakfast was reasonable. But the hotel is tired, shabby and not very clean. Just looking at the state of the lift was not a good introduction. The room was smelly - in spite of opening the window, which was not easy, the smell remained. I think it might have something to do with the carpet. The whole place needs a thorough 'deep clean', redecoration and renovation.
Great location.
Basic as in there are the things you need for a short stay and the cleaning standard is quite good.
We understand why this hotel has both good and very bad reviews. Its good location and lowish price makes it popular for those visiting Manchester on a limited budget. On arrival, the crowded reception area (we were early and people were waiting for rooms) made it feel like a hostel rather than a hotel. The staff were efficient and helpful and the room well equipped and of good size. The decor was faded and the rooms could do with a complete refit. Decoration of the public areas was being done during our stay. For a base to visit central Manchester it is fine - if you want hotel luxury go somewhere else. We have stayed in worse (Travelodge, Deansgate) and usually stay at Holiday Inn, Salford Quays and use the tram to travel in and out of the city but would be prepared to stay at the Gardens again. It is in a super location with the entrance on Picadilly Gardens.
excellent location room window was faulty but everything else was pleasent
Excellent location. 5 mins from train station and very central. Decor slightly dated but the room was large, clean, comfortable and everything worked as it should. Could not really expect more for the price paid.
Interior rooms are to avoid!
Hotel wouldn't be to bad if they knew how to clean, towels provided smelt, so i went out and brought my own and no maid to tidy room afer the first night. The location is a 1 minute walk from piccadily station is very handy but the hotel itself has very low standards.
the location was perfect, the staff were very helpful and friendly. i wall stay there again.
satisfied with this hotel
good quality hotel room had all facilities you needed. the only thing that the hotel could improve on would be airconditioning in room or a fan as the rooms were very warm other than that it was a very enjoyable stay adn i would recommend.
Outside looked a bit dingy but inside was fine. Ideally situated for city centre shops, buses and mainline station. Would certainly stay there again.
We chose to stay at the Gardens Hotel simply because of the Location and Price and on this basis we were not dissapointed. However should you pay full price or be looking for a Good Quality hotel this is not the hotel to choose - I would rate it as a smiple 2* Hotel, the rooms are very dated and in need of redecorating, the bed is extreemly uncomfortable and the bathroom appears to be dirty - it's not but its just old and worn which makes it look un-clean. The 2 bedside Lamps were beyond repair, with burnt shades and loose fittings. We booked a room with a window which looked out onto the extractor unit which when it was on was very noisy. Location is perfect, right on Piccadilly Gardens with a Subway Takeaway and Wetherspoons next door which are ideal for breakfast and restaurants and shops just a few yards away.
- The shower in the room was good - Cosy smoke free room but the view wasn't so great - The continental Breakfast was almost finish after 9 o'clock on saturday - The doors of the kitchen were banging right under this room
Nice hotel, very good location, good price.
The hotel is situated in a great position. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was ok. The lift was out of order but we asked for rooms on the first floor. The hotel is good value for money, would definately stay there again
We stayed in room 408 of the Gardens Hotel in Manchester on a Sunday night as somewhere to stay after going to a gig at the City of Manchester Stadium. We had mixed feelings on our room, although the bed was comfortable the room was small and decoration out of date. Shower needed replacing and bath was blocked. We felt like it could do with a refurb. The service was very good - reception staff were knowledgeable and helpful and the staff at breakfast were quick and helpful. The hotel had no parking facillities so we parked closeby at an NCP carpark - although expensive (£15.50 overnight) for us, it is as expected in London. The location was excellent, we stayed there to go to a gig at the City of Manchester and the buses for £1 each were just outside the hotel and it was 25 mins walk back. Breakfast was good you could have a full english or continental, although the coffee tasted odd...perhaps not Nescafe! Overall we would recommend the hotel based on location and service.
