Improved considerably since my last stay a few years ago. Centrally located, excellent for access to Crawley town. With Gatwick airport only a short distance away, ideal for a night before with an early flight.
In a very good location, as it is situated on the main high street in Crawley and the train station is only 10 minutes walk away. The hotel is clean and the rooms are Ok. There were a couple of problems with my stay, the TV had a really bad signal and the hair dryer was broken. Forget about parking in their car park if you turn up after 7pm, it is rammed!
On a value for money basis this hotel is good, I do remember the hotel in its hayday and its now long past that, in need of some money being spent on it, but then the rates would be much higher..
Stayed for 3 nights in October 2007, generally a good hotel although it is going through some renenovation work. A couple of bad points firstly they have reduced the size of their car park by letting it to a car hand wash company and had to park on the grass the first day and when I went out on the second day I had to wait for about 20 minutes to find a space when I returned. Secondly the buffet breakfast was exactly the same all 3 mornings there was no variation at all which I found dissappointing. I have stayed at this hotel a few times and feel that it has lost its personel touch, I was not even asked if I had enjoyed my stay when I checked out and there are no customer surveys to give feed back, I hope that with the renenovation work that it will improve as generally I fell it is good value for money and in a great loction if you want to walk out the door and be in town centre.
A very reasonable place to stay for a stopover, for once the taxi company asscoiated with a hotel did not rip me off!!!WB
The restaurant was in the process off being refurbished when we stayed. However, there is an extremly good restuarant next door called Caravela which we highly recommend
My room was extremely hot/stuffy, even though the night was not very warm. Staff was very friendly and got a fan but even with the fan and the window wide open, it was unbearable to sleep in, not to mention I was worried about safety with the window wide open and accessible by the flat roof. I think all the rooms on that floor suffered from the same problem because of poor ventilation. It was also quite noisy with creaking floor boards and construction in the hotel. Location was convenient by train from Gatwick, the price was reasonable for an airport hotel, and the staff was very nice. But I ended up getting very little sleep so it wasn't worth it.
Our stay was marred only by the fact that there was nowhere to sit as a family and have a drink. We were not allowed into the bar as one of our daughters was under-age, this made the evening very long as there was nowhere in the town we could go, we had no car with us as we were travelling to the airport the next day. The hotel lounge was out of use and I felt there should have been some arrangement made for residents with children to sit. The breakfast and everything else was very good.
The roof leaks when there is rain. This makes the main staircase difficult to negotiate
Clean Tidy Hotel in an excellent position for restaurants bars etc. Could do with a little make over. The rooms in the main Hotel not the annex are better.
TV had faulty sound and buzzed loudly as you turned up the volume. The room was comfortable and clean. No soap in the shower dispenser. Breakfast service was a tad slow.
Was good stay. Location is great for walking around the shopping area or local eating. Free ride to airport a big plus.
The hotel was clean, the staff made us feel welcome, the bathrooms modern and very clean, but the hotel was very run down in terms of general maintenence such as exterior appearence, worn out carpets and funiture and interior decoration. it is obviously in need of major investment.
Very pleasant hotel nice location to get to gatwick, price was fine and rooms very clean would stay there everytime i fly from gatwick, top notch.
Bit noisy early on Friday morning with market setting up.
You need new furniture in your rooms (or at least new fabric for them).
The staff are very helpful and nothing appeared to be too much trouble
Helpful staff
Dinner in restaurant was excellent.
