The rooms are quite large and reasonably furnished. The location is quite good - close to restaurants, etc, and not far from the main train station (SMN). It is also walking distance to Florence's main tourist attractions. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Some speak English better than others but we did not have any major problems trying to communicate with them. There is an Internet PC provided in the hotel lobby for a small charge - the fees are very reasonable. The only real negatives about this hotel are: (1) it is located on the corner of two busy streets so light sleepers may want to look elsewhere, and (2) there is no elevator at the hotel, so bags must be carried up 2 flights of stairs; however, the hotel staff are more than willing to offer assistance if needed. The 2 best things about this hotel are its price and location within walking distance to the main tourist attractions.
A basic but very good hotel--staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is fine but unspectacular. For the price a good choice

Reasonable enough no-frills hotel in a great location, however there are plenty of other places in the same area and there wasn't really anything about this one to say it stands out. There is no lift to the second floor hotel which means you have to go up four flights of stairs, something that could be a problem if you're travelling with cases. The bathroom was tiny (1m x 2m), so small that people of even average height will have to sit sideways on the toilet. The hotel is on one of the busier streets in the city centre with quite a lot of traffic noise from buses and ambulances in particular. The daytime reception staff were very pleasant and the hotel was clean enough so from that point of view it was a nice place to stay.
The staff are really helpful, the location is handy to the train station and the markets. The room was a great size, and very clean, but the bathroom was TINY. Our room was facing the road and the windows didn't shut properly so it was a bit noisy. Beds were a bit hard. Breakfast was typical continental style.
The best thing about the Genesio is the reception staff. They all speak English well and are extremely helpful. The room was basic and clean and was serviced daily. It was in a great location - very quiet at night and within walking distance to everything in Florence. My only complaint is the size of the bathroom - it was ridiculously small. We had to sit sideways on the toilet - really! The shower was only 30 cm deep so the curtain was always sticking. plus, if the water pressure was too high, the bathroom flooded into the room. However, we worked around the bathroom deficiencies and had a good stay.
A little hard to find. Staff great and knowlegable. Wifi only good in foyer at 8 euro for 2 hours. Walking distance to all major sights.
Good standard for the price. A very good location. Only complaint is the noice coming from the street, but I guess that is a problem for most of the Florence.
Location is convenient and Simon is friendly! Good breakfast but little bit noisy at night. Double bed easily be shaken. Anyway, it is very reasonable hotel!
Excellent value for money, superb location in city center. Perfect for those without a car as it is not easy to park in downtown Florence. Our deal thru [website] included a pretty good buffet breakfast. Bottom line, tho accomodations a bit spartan, for the price it was a lot more than you'd expect. I'd rate it "A, awith an "AAA" for location.
Great hotel for the price. Simon was great. Nothing was too much trouble... Would stay here again.
Very good service from all staff members. Very clean with great, fluffy towels. Our bathroom was so tiny, however, that you had to sit "sidesaddle" on the toilet seat. Also, the lift was out of bounds to hotel patrons. Generous breakfast and good location.
Perfect location - 5 minutes walk from the Academia, 20 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio and 15 minutes from the Station. Florence was extremely hot and the location of the hotel allowed me to take a siesta break without breaking my daily agenda. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Will most definitely stay at the Genesio during my next visit to Florence.
Decent hotel, good value. Service depended on who was around. SImone was absolutely lovely! A couple of the others less so.
This hotel was excellent. The guy on the front desk was so helpful, breakfast was great, even the cleaners were friendly. The only downfall was that there was no lift, but the front desk man helped us with our suitcases. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to Florence.
This hotel is in great location and close to the historic site of the city. It is clean and the staff are helpful.
The biggest, softest towels - so unexpected and appreciated!
