Excellent little motel with superb views of the glacier from your room. Very friendly owner with lots of help with suggestions of how best to fill your time there. Had dual aspect room which was lovely and bright even when it was cloudy outside. Would recommend this motel to those who want good clean basic accommodation in a wonderful location.

We found the motel to be clean & comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our enquiries. The motel is only a couple of k's out if the actual town which makes it very quiet. Would happily stay there again.
Friendly reception. Great place for a quick overnight stay in the beautiful Franz Josef/Fox Glacier area, although room was equipped with a small kitchen.
We stayed at the Glacier View Motel for 2 nights and found the accomodation to be great. The units were very clean and comfortable and the view of the glacier from the front of our unit was nothing short of spectacular. Our hosts were very welcoming and most helpful in providing advice of what to see in the area. This spot provide to be was one of the most memorable stops on our 3 week tour of New Zealand and the motel is highly recommended

A very nice clean and friendly motel close to Franz Josef and all the tourist ammenities. It even had an area to wash your car.

Whilst this is an older style of motel, the rooms were very clean, and the facilities fine, apart from no iron and board in the room. The owner was really welcoming and helpful in organizing immediately our tour of the glacier. The motel is a little out of the main part of the town, but easily accessible, and has a lovely country feel.
Very friendly owners who had a great knowledge of the local area and amenities - would have no problems in returning here

Very good accommodation - a bit out of town which was a plus to avoid the noise from the helicopters. Facilities were very good too.
The proprietors were extremely helpful, especially when we were unable to get a shuttle and drove us themselves
As I expected this motel was about 5 minutes from the town of Franz Josef on the north side. Without a car this would have involved a 20minute walk. The unit was very clean and the reception lady was very friendly and helpful. Having a small oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge we were able to buy provisions from the shop in town and cook for ourselves rather than eat out. A welcome saving.
Don's a really nice guy, and had some suggestions for us to pursue. Compared to many motels in the rest of NZ, we found that this was expensive for what you get - it's a very basic room. This may have something to do with being in the 'glacier' area, where generally the prices seem to be higher than elsewhere. There were also no facilities in the motel, if the weather's bad, you only have your (fairly dark) room to stay in - or find a place somewhere in the village but the few pubs don't open till after 3pm.
The Glacier View Hotel was everything we needed for our stay in South island the Staff were very helpful and the standard of accomodation was very high i would recomend it to anyone
