This family run hotel is nestled in one of the most scenic and romantic glens in Ireland, on Gougane Barra Lake, the source of the River Lee and site of Ireland`s first national forest park. Getting there:
From the village of Macroom head in the direction of Cork. Just outside the village of Macroom there are gates to enter a Castle on the right hand side of the road. Turn right at this junction and follow the road (R584) to Inchigeelagh and Ballingeary. Go 1 mile past the village of Ballingeary and you will see a signpost indicating a right turn to Gougane Barra Hotel. The hotel is at the end of this narrow road at the entrance to a National Forest Park.

We were captivated by the beauty and the setting of the hotel. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday with the chance to do lots of walking then this hotel is ideal. The owners are extremely friendly and made our stay most enjoyable. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.

This hotel is situated in a most beautiful and peaceful spot on Gougane Barra Lake. You can row on the lake and walk in the nearby forest. The hotel itself has a lovely old fashioned feel about it and the dining room has a panoramic view of the lake. Neil, who was in charge during our stay is very friendly and welcoming. If you like peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings this hotel is the place to stay.
