Gounod Hotel Nice

Handy for front and train station or local bus to airport. Old town and bus station a reasonable walk away. Trams and buses great - 1 euro for any journey throughout the region. Breakfast unremarkable- continental with addition of small sausages and scrambled eggs. Air conditioning a bit noisy - room large with 2 bathrooms - staff pleasant. Overall good value for money - would stay again.

Very good location midway between the Promenade des Anglais and Railway Station. Welcoming staff, good breakfast and I had a quiet, spacious room. This was my second stay at the Gounod and I hope not my last.

The Gonoud is a lovely hotel in the east of the city, about 10 minutes walk from the main Nice square (15 mins to the old town). It's a lovely old hotel that I can highly recommend. We stayed in room 504 and it was large, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom could have done with a good cleaning (dirty grout in tiles) and the shower wasn't brilliant but it was certainly good enough. Breakfast is continental (cereal, pastries, sausage, eggs etc) and server with fresh coffee and tea. The staff are very helpful and there is onsite parking (15 euros per night - not bad for Nice !). In short I would recomment to anyone.

This hotel is just a 5 minute walk away from the beach and main walkway. The staff are really nice and the breakfast was excellent (including the coffee). As a guest at the Gounod Hotel you have access to their sister Hotel The Splendid. Suggest you go up to the roof top bar to take in the fantastic views across nice both day and night but be prepared for the prices of drinks (short measures also). We'd thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here and we'd most certainly return ourselves. Enjoy :0)

Room was OK with comfortable large king size bed and small balcony (no chairs)but only 1 easy chair. Bathroom was clean and shower was always hot with good water pressure. Breakfast was adequate but with limited choice and the same every day - 3 cereals, 2 fruit juices, 4 types of rolls/pastries, boiled egg, scrambled egg, small sausages, yogurts, cheese and cold meat. Lift was out of action for 5 of our 6 days. No bar or leisure facilities but could use pool, bar, restaurant, gym of nxt door Hotel Splendid (did not use most of these - bar was as expensive as the sea front hotels but without the view)

A delightful place to stay when in Nice. Staff were very helpful. Everything about the hotel was excellent.

There were no closed shower area in the room, only the bathtub without a curtain or shower cabin, which made it difficult to take a shower without making the whole bathroom wet. Breakfast was simple and same throughout 6 days we stayed there.

Covenient Location. Very good Breakfast. Friendly and very helpful staff! I've enjoyed my stay!

All round a good hotel with very friendly staff. Our room was large, quiet and clean. Although clean, the hotel is starting to look a little tired in places. New carpets are definitely needed soon.

The service from this hotel was excellent and we received a lot of attention from the staff. It is a good 20minutes walk to the Vieux Ville which was its only drawback but very conveniently located between the beach and the Main train station. I'd definately consider going back again!

Thotle is excellent, situated half way beteween the sea and the railway station. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble A great hotel for a short city break.

Very friendly staff and very helpful. Would like to return to Nice as our stay was too short, would stay at teh Gounod Hotel again if possible.

Well located, friendly hotel. Some rooms are refurbished and much nicer - ours was an older style room with an ancient fridge (mini-bar), but very French, large, clean, quiet and comfortable. It was good to use the pool terrace etc of the Hotel Splendid. In Nice, for the price and location, it was reasonable value.

Great breakfast and helpful staff.

The attitude of stuff was brilliant. Able to use the pool and spa on the 8th floor of the Splendid Hotel were good, especially we can see the sould alps from there.
