Gran Ducat Hotel Barcelona

This hotel was in an awesome location....right down the street from Plaza Catalunya and therefore near alot of major attractions but overall the room was VERY small but clean and simple. The hotel itself was simply done..nothing too special. Besides this, my only major complaint would be the noise. It wasn't because of our centralized location in Barcelona,,,it was within the hotel itself...the quality of the doors with the younger (and I am 32!) crowd made it hard to sleep at night:(

the hotel is in a very good location .very quiet,and a lovely staff.

Room was big enough for two and clean. The service was always correct and free wifi was nice to have. I asked for a room that doesn't give on the street (which I suppose to be noisy) and we got it. There was no view but for the view I prefer to go in the city. So no noise didn't come from outside but from the corridor you could hear everything, also you could hear the metro (though I got used to it). But light-sleepers: take your earplugs with you! Not sure if there was some air-conditioning (the thing on the wall didn't work), but it wasn't as hot as outside, but could have been cooler also! The location is perfect, the central area Placa de Catalunya (aerobus from/to the airport) is just 1min walk and you have cafes, bars and shops just outside.

A reasonably priced hotel in a good location close to Las Ramblas. Accommodation pretty basic, and the mattresses are far too hard, but overall, a decent hotel.

Hotel was superbly located. The room was a little on the small side but would not deter me from returning. Breakfast was a little pricey at €11 but that is the norm with all the hotels - we just ate at one of the numerous coffee shops / restaraunts that were on our doorstep. When we booked out we were able to leave our bags safely in the lockup and collect them in the evening. A very positive experience.

This hotel is missing the space for a reception for the price that one will pay.

great location, but a bit expensive for such a small room... however clean and well maintained the service is OK but there is no flexibility on check out time or anything else ...

An excellent location for this hotel with easy links to Metro stations, the Ramblas and the port/beach area. Numerous bars, eateries and shops nearby (Cafe Zurich does excellent sangria!).Staff were friendly and courteous throughout what was a very pleasant stay. Rooms were functional and clean and represented good all round value for money. We would recommend the grand Ducat for independent travellers on a budget.

Excellent location near Plaza Catalunya and good free internet access. Rooms were very clean which was a pleasant surprise in Barcelona. Will stay at this hotel again.

Kinda small room and very heated upon arrival (in the last days of April) - got better the next day, when the heating in the floor was turned down. Perfect location, and if you don't intend to stay in the room for the whole day, the size is acceptable.

pros: EXCELLENT LOCATION! 1/2 block from Placa Catayluna(top of Las Ramblas) within walking distance of major attractions; metro stop: aeroport bus stop; hop on hop off bus;tourist information office; supermarket(Ingles) similar to Wal-Mart in US. English speaking friendly, helpful staff; Clean hotel; comfortable beds; Free computer center; Wi-Fi; breakfast (11 euros) other options within same block. Free roomsafe. complimentary water in lobby a nice plus when you return from exploring Barcelona. cons: Hotel is noisy @ night because people stay up all night & are very loud returning to their rooms. there is no carpet throughout hotel thus sound travels. metro runs under the hotel during the day but stops running around 1pm. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again for it's location & helpful, friendly staff.

very good breakfast; friendy receptionists but not good at calculation; they overcharge us. Some areas of the room are broken. Anyway the location is very good.

Excellent prices for hotel with wonderful central location very close to Placa de Catalunya. Very warm welcome. Would definitely stay there if visiting Barcelona again.

Great location. Very pleasant gentleman on check in who organised a cot for us straight away. Room was small, but location location location makes us for any minor shortcomings. It's literally a 2 min walk from the airport bus stop and from El Corte Ingles fine food hall!!

This is a good city-centre Hotel - right in the heart of Barcelona - so don't expect huge rooms. Location perfect : a step from Las Ramblas and opposite the great shopping Mecca of El Corte de l'Ingles.

Tiny rooms, bad tv reception, very noisy by night and expensive breakfast ( there's a Starbuck coffee near the hotel). Fortunately, the hotel is very well located (just a few miles from Plaça Catalunya, the Ramblas, la Pedrera, el Corte ingles..) and this could justify the price. From the airport, the Aerobus will drop you off at the hotel's door....or a taxi will charge you for 20 euros.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Perfect location, amazing newly renovated room with a balcony. Very clean and with nice staff.
