The hostal is situated on the 3rd floor and I suppose it was originally a flat. Now there are several small rooms -- I guess about eight -- and a reception with 24hour service. The positive side is that you can feel secure and rooms are clean. The negative side is that you can hear almost everything from the corridor. They speak only spanish at the reception.
nice hotel in an excellent location of Madrid downtown, very nearby the metro station OPERA. I very appreciated decoration with many oil-painting pictures in the hall and room.
This place the upper end for budget travel. I got a great rate through [your website]. The bed became uncomfortable after a few nights and the place is noisy. (But are you really going to Madrid to the peace and quiet?) However, having your own bathroom and shower is a wonderful thing. You have to wait a minute for the hot water to get up to the 3rd floor but remember this is a hostal not a hotel. Having that heater in January was nice too! The place is super clean and having your bed made up every morning and fresh towels is pretty remarkable for a hostal ( sheets are changed twice a week). While the Gran Duque does show its wear when looked at closely, it has been niced up. The tiny bathroom is as nice as any good hotel. Madrid for all its crazyness is still a formal place and being polite and formal and using your Spanish will go a long way with proud owner. A good place for a short stay in Madrid.
Great location, good value for money, clean, comfy and good presentation standard. Only negative, rooms warm, need window open at night meaning some noise from stairwells and showers.
Apart from a few stairs to get up at the entrance it is an excellent for value hotel. Breakfast is fine but very ordinary.
clean, comfy, central, and cheap.
great location, plenty of bars for breakfast
Such gorgeous rooms, and incredibly nice staff. A real winner!
you have to pay only 3 euros extra for air con - worth it in the middle of summer as the single room gets very hot! Good facilities, close to everything including main shopping, food/bars. Friendly service
Excellent location, should change beds. crew very nice. we enjoyed the stay there.
The hotel is at a great location near the opera, the palace, the cathedral and the shoppingdistrict. And in a quiet street. Rooms are simple, but clean and the hotelstaff is very friendly. I had a great stay.
Friendly staff and a great location only minutes from everywhere in "el centro de Madrid"
The best we had in Europe for value for money.
In my opinion this is just a perfect place to stay in madrid, it is near to Royal palace, Puerta del sol and Plaza mayor, the street where the hostal is located is safe. Rooms are a bit small, but very comfortable and clean. We felt like at home there.Everything that u need for nice vacations.I heartly recommend this hostal.
Location is great, just 200 m far from Opera building. Rooms are ok. The room I stayed in (single) had window to inner yard. Due to the restaurant kitchen below it was sometimes quite smelly. Therefore window had to be closed all the time what in winter is ok but in summer might be killing. So don't take room 310 in summer time.
I really like this hostal (no catering facilitites) - it is quiet, comfortable, clean and convenient to the Metro
Great place to stay in central Madrid. Very close to Opera metro station, a few yards from the Royal Palace. The room with private bathroom was extremely clean and warm (in early January). The people at the reception were very nice and helpful. Price war also very, very good. I heartily recommend it!
Very well located. The personell were kind. I am satisfied with my stay in the Hotel and I am planning to go back.
Excellent quality-price ratio and really good location near the metro station! I was happy to stay there.
Everything was nice, except the fact that the hotel personnel didn`t speak english, which is quite surprising actually.
