Gran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico Guest Reviews

5 out of 5

The Hotel was very nice and clean. The staff very helpful and the restaurant in the terrace was amazing. I will go again. Fantastic Service.

The hotel takes you back to 19th century Mexico, to the times of the Porfiriato. The view from the hotel balcony onto the historic center is beautiful, and you can witness the ceremonial raising and lowering of the flag. A few blocks away is the Bar Opera, where Pancho Villa is said to have entered with his horse and shot his gun off (you can see the bullet hole in the ceiling). For such an old hotel, it was great to see how well kept it is, clean and well kept. Great breakfast, too!

Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico is located half a block from the Zocalo and the Catedral Metropolitana area. The hotel staff is superb and the decor is excelent. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone interested in having a great and truly Ciudad de Mexico experience. We will definetely stay here on our next Mexico City visit.

The best thing about it is the location near the Zocalo--the Grand Square. Also a rooftop restaurant with view of Zocalo. Unusual big Tiffany-glass style ceiling for lobby. The room itself was nothing special, but adequate. It was good to be able to explore the nearby area (Diego Rivera murals at the Palacio Nacional, Aztec museum, Cathedral, street vendors, shops, etc.) and yet be close to my hotel. In early January they had kiddie recreation on artificial ice and snow in the Zocalo. Pricing average considering good location.

If you are looking for a hotel with character? this is the place for you. Grandeur at the beginning of the 20's century today is just that, and out date hotel. But lovely figures and excellent location right in the Zocalo of Mexico City.
