Expensive for everything you need including food and drink. Recomend inclusive deal if you can get a good price. Also it seems only red level guests enjoy great service and their pool MUCH nicer.
Cool lobby and friendly staff. Ridiculously expensive internet however.

I've stayed in several hotels in Cancun and this one was one of my favorites. I want to qualify this by saying that I don't stay in the all-inclusives. I transferred to this hotel after a terrible experience at the Bel Air, and I was more than happy I had made the change. The main pool is gorgeous; my only complaint is that they play the music fairly loud and it is nearly impossible to escape the noise other than going to sit by the quieter, smaller pool. The rooms are staggered so that there is a lot of privacy and even though I didn't have an ocean view, I enjoyed the sunset lagoon side. The staff was very welcoming.
I went to Cancun twice and it was my hotel for the second trip. and it was super awesome hotel(much better then the other one which was for first trip!). My boyfriend and I really liked this hotel so much! Not only the price also Location, room, view, staff.. everything was amazing!
Traveled to Cancun, Mexico for a get away weekend with a friend with no expectations at all. As soon as we arrived to the Hotel the bellman was kind enough to take our luggage and ensure that It will be taken to our room as soon as checking process was completed. The front desk agent was very professional provided us with impeccable customer service; she also gave us the option of a possible upgrade to a "RedLevel" for an affordable price. Option that we could not resist. Sure enough, it was a great decision. At "RedLevel" Grant Melia we found the best hotel service either of us had ever received by any hotel staff. We did not have to ask for anything other than a room moved, sure enough we had everything we needed and all of the "RedLevel" staff made us feel like their very special guests. Among all the wonderful staff, our special thanks will go to David (Mayordomo) who set the tone for our get away, he was friendly, welcoming, accomodating, and offered us a fantastic service. In addition, Lourdes."Lulu", and Laura were amazing concierges. They were ready to answer and take care any request. Last but not least, Ale from the spa with his undivided attention made us feel wonderful. I would strongly recommend Grant Melia Cancun to any of my family and friends. The service received was impeccably prefect.
The only thing that I did not like about it was the fact that hotel stuff (mainly front desk) was trying to sell you EVERYTHING, tours, time share!!!, etc. Other than that it was REALLY nice!
My wife and I came here to getaway and relax. From the moment we got there to the moment we left was nothing but pure relaxation. The food and drinks were as great as we could have imagined. The only complaint was that they hounded you to set up a time share meeting right when you walked in the hotel. Besides that everything was great.
Everything was great. Hotel location, size, rooms. Also, staff was really good and helpful. Way better than what you get in USA. They are really hardworking people. The only downside I found is that selection of restaurants. They didn't offer much for vegetarians. I also was looking for a place which serves burgers / pizzas in any restaurant. Otherwise, a perfect stay.
I stayed at the Gran Melia in Nov '11. The hotel is nice all the way around... the rooms are perfect, the pool is nice, and it's right on the beach. I didn't do the all-inclusive option, so I can't comment on the food, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The only thing people need to realize is the "resort credit" is really just a coupon book that you can use for certain items.
the hotel is so great, the whole environment is very peaceful and the staff there is so friendly and kindly
i am going to be very honest.. I read all the bad reviews on this resorts so I went into this trip with a little trepidation. When we got there last week my bf and I were celebrating our year anniversary. When we checked in, they brought us in to a VIP check in room to explain our all inclusive details and they gave us champagne to celebrate our anniversary :) Trust me, not one person harassed us about any time share once. After we got to room they had even decorated our room on their own to celebrate our anniversary with rose petals that said "I love u" on bed. It honestly was so special and they even gave us a jacuzzi room! The food there was great.. We had breakfast every morning ay quetzal, and Lunch varied sometimes at la perla and sometime at vernanda. One night we even got an invite to a special catered event at la perla. I have to be honest and tell you this resort was unbelievable. So beautiful, and totally accommodating. We really felt like celebrities the entire time we were there!! We also did the selvatica zip line tour which was so fun, the guides were really funny and we had a really great time. Even my hard to please bf had the time of his life here! The resort was really beautiful and romantic and I have not one single complaint. Please consider this place, you will definitely not regret it!!
Everyone at the resort was nothing but kind and helpful. Beautiful pool and beach areas. Room was somewhat outdated but was very clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.
The food in the buffet was less than I expected. There were only 2 other options for dinner if you could get a reservation and no other option for breakfast.
The staff was SOOOOO welcoming and genuine. Besides the Hurricane Rina scare, there were no issues. We were not able to indulge in all there was to offer due to the storm, but nevertheless, we were so very satisfied. We are already planning next year's trip back to Cancun at the same hotel!
Nicest suites - We've stayed at the suites with ocean view at the central pyramid, 6 th floor. Amazing terrace and breathtaking view. All 4 restaurants, including the most simple one (el quetzal) are beautiful and serve fresh and top quality food. The lobby and lounge are ultra comfortable.
We had a wonderful experience at the hotel Gran Melia. The staff was so friendly and helpful, I have never seen such service. The hotel and grounds was also absolutely gorgeous! The only thing we wished could have been different is to have more dining options. There is one buffet for all meals that is closed from 5:00-6:00 and 11:30-12:30 and 5 other restaurants which you have to make a reservation for and they are only open for dinner. Otherwise this was a great place and we will return to this hotel if we go back.
Nice place to spend some days in Cancun. Good value for money.
We just got back and can't wait to visit again. All of the staff was beyond helpful and so friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean. The beach and pool are amazing. The food at the cafe did start to get old but we didn't plan well and eat at the other restaurants as much as we should have. In all we had the best experience we could have asked for. We will be back for sure.
is a wonderful deal, beautiful rooms with a perfect view, very good located.
The gran melia is a very big hotel. During our stay the hotel seemed extremely empty. I guess it was the time of year we went. It's so empty it almost seems a little weird. We got the red level service which was pretty good value. Free drinks at cocktail hour. Breakfast, free movie, secluded areas in hotel. Service was great ay the hotel bc I think we were the only people there. Overall I would stay there again! Ni e hotel for groups
