Grand Continental Service Apartments Guangzhou Guest Reviews

3.2 out of 5

On the 10th to 11th of June, we stayed in this hotel. The location was great, next to Beijing Rd and Pearl river cruise building not too far away. Landmark hotel, with better rooms is within walking distance and there one can get Bus tickets to Macau or Hong kong, which we did to go Macau. The 4 Seasons restaurant in the Grand Continental Apartments has good food such as roasted Goose , oxtails cuisine and etc But if anyone want to move around in Guangzhou, one has to be conversant in mandarin and cantonese to order , inquire and request for info or meet own requirements and expectations. However, the hotel furnishing looks rather old and may not meet the expectation of certain people who may want to compare to those hotels in Macau and Hong Kong. Overall I would not expect too much from the quality of the room. The reception staff as commented by many is a pain to many who have stayed there is true. Inter staff coordination is lacking and request for room allocation is slow.

4.4 out of 5

Instead of an adjoining room, we were given 2 twin rooms. Nonetheless, the size, cleanliness and facilities in the rooms were very impressive. The staff said it was only in operation for 2 years, no wonder the furniture, bathroom, linens and microwave oven were relatively still new. Our rooms were located on 29th floor with view of the Pearl River partly. This was my first time in Guangzhou. After arriving in HK from Singapore, we took a bus(HK$250) from HK airport to Guangzhou Hotel. It was 10 mins walk to Grand Continental. Going back to HK costed only RMB80 boarding from Guangzhou Hotel to Jordan Road, HK. The service apartment(in fact I would call it hotel since the furnishing is more of hotel than service apartment) was centrally located. Around is Beijing Road, Lide Road which linked to ShanXiaJiu Road. The subway was 10 mins walk from the apartment. There were many eateries in the vicinity. Value for money. We had a pleasant stay.

We were upgraded to 2 bedroom apt upon arrival. Nice room on 33rd floor. But wi-fi only available at lobby. So far we enjoy our stay at Grand Continental. Location near to Beijing Street walking street mall.

They have transferred the check-in counter from the 22nd floor to the ground level, making the check-in process more convenient. The staff have a much better grasp of the English language now. We were assigned to rooms on the 23rd and 34th floors. They are much better than the ones we stayed in last October. From my experiences in staying at Grand Continental, rooms located above the 22nd floor are generally better and nicer than those located below the 22nd floor.

Grand Continental Service Apartment room is spacious. Bed is a little hard. But the two pillows are soft and comfortable. There is hot water kettle in the room. You just bring your own coffee. The hotel provides two free sachet of Green Tea. Location is near to Beijing Road Pedestrian Mall. Haizhu Square Station is a good 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Outside the Haizhu Square Subway Station is the Airport Express Bus Stop from Baiyun Airport.

I found this hotel good value for money, there was always someone on the front desk that spoke english and helped me with any enquiry. Quite close to good restaurants, banks, shopping area and supermarket. I would definately stay here again. The only small problem was that the kitchen does not come with any utensils at all. This was quickly fixed by a trip to the supermarket to get a plate, cup and eating utensils, but if you wanted to cook up a meal you would need to bring pots and pans. All in all a very nice place to stay

We stayed in Grand Continental Service Apartment during the period of the Canton Fair. The hotel is located on Tai Kang Road near the corner of Beijing Road. You can walk for about ten minutes to the Haizhu Square Subway Station. The hotel provided shuttle bus to Pazhou Exhibition Center in the morning and back to the hotel in the afternoon. There are lots of stores for shopping and restaurants and fast food (McDonalds/KFC) on nearby Beijing Road. Overall, value for money and I recommend this hotel. I now always stay in Grand Continental Service Apartment whenever I visit Guangzhou.

It was my first time to Guangzhou, as not familiar with the hotel location I make few call to the hotel but no one pick up. The taxi driver was so good that he help me to look for the hotel and at last I reach. There is no bell boy to help my luggages. The location is good. About few minutes walk is Beijing Pedestrian Street which can find local food and do some window shopping. The Vietnam food is famous and need to queue for about half to one hour. When check out it took me some time as they required me to pay total include deposit. Overall the room is big and clean and location is good.

Location of this hotel is good coz it's a shopping area just beneath the hotel. Reception was quite slow as many guest flocking the area and made checking-in a slow process. Overall cleanliness was good and worth the price for staying at Grand Continental Svc Aprtm GZ.

Excellent location, near to Beijing road & the river. However, can be difficult to hail a taxi at certain hours. Not all staff at reception speaks English. House-keeping would need to check the room before you are allowed to check out.

Compared to my last stay (April, 2010), the hotel room is a little better. Maybe, our being assigned to a floor (16th) also rented out to long-term clients with children contributed to the unkempt condition of the hallway.

1) Porter not available early morning at 7am and i had to help myself to the trolley to cart 3 large suitcases to the taxi myself. 2) The counter staff do not smile at all. When one of the ladies said I broke a glass, she said it very rudely, short of saying "pay up, or else!". In actual fact the glass cracked due to hot water being poured into it when making tea. 3) My husband did not even complain when the cupboard door came off and fell on his head. When this was mentioned to the staff, they made no apologies about it. 4) Your hotel charges RM15 for the guangzhou map. i feel it should be free. 5) I bought 5litre water for my daily use and left it on the room kitchen counter. We notice that after this we were not given any free bottles of water for days, until we asked for it. 6) Complaints aside, the hotel is situated in a vey convenient location and price is reasonable. I will recommend this to my friends.

We had a group of 20 people staying there, but some were given rooms on the 23rd floor which had very dirty carpets and dilapidated walls (torn and stained wall paper). However, I realized that other floors were okay with new ceramic tiles instead of the dirty carpets - I supposed that they were doing refurbishment in stages. Other than that, the rooms are clean and room facilities are good. Beds are firm and good. Will stay there again if the renovations are completed since the rates are fair and location is excellent - near Beijing Lu and the Pearl River.

Good location, rooms are clean but hallway and lift are not. Reception in xx floor, a bit confusing. Not very helpful staf. Lots of construction work outside over night, but rooms are quiet if you are on a higher floor. If you want cheap room this is the place. You get what you pay or even more [...]
