Warm welcome to Lucerne’s legendary Grand Hotel! The hotel (5 star Superior) was originally founded in 1870 by César Ritz with Auguste Escoffier. 41 rooms and suites are individually designed in the original Empire-Style with great attention to detail. Stylish “Fin du Sciècle” grandezza, combined with traditional values and modern style, located directly at the Lake of Lucerne. The “Restaurant Le Trianon” (14 Gault-Millau points) offers you an elegant ambiance and a choice of international and innovative delicacies. At the restaurant “Il Padrino” (15 Gault-Millau points) you will find Italian cuisine and an exquisite wine-list in a Mediterranean atmosphere and the “Thai Lotus” serves delicious food from the Far East. Here you can enjoy Thai-cuisine. The "1871"offers a light lunchtime menu. In the afternoon it serve coffee and cakes. And than what could be more stylish than dinner here with close friends. Unique Location: Situated directly on the lakeside promenade, it offers easy access to the old city, all important sights, shopping area, culture & convention centre (KKL) and the railway station. From the hotel there are views across the lake to the Alps and one can see the famous mountains Rigi, Stanserhorn and Pilatus.

Getting there:Travel by car from Zurich, Basel and Bern (A2) Take the exit „Luzern Zentrum“ and drive towards the train station (Bahnhof). Then follow directions for “Küssnacht”, Weggis”. After crossing over the lake bridge you can see the Grand Hotel National on the right hand side. The car can be parked in the car park opposite the hotel. Travel by train: Leave the train station via the main exit and take bus number 6 or 8 "Verkehrshaus Würzenbach". Get off the bus at the stop "Luzernerhof". In two minutes you will reach the main entrance to the hotel. There are taxis at the train station; a ride to the hotel costs CHF 20.—. By foot it will take you around 10 minutes to get to the hotel from the train station. Direct trains leave frequently from Zurich Airport and take you to Lucerne within only one hour. Should you prefer a Limousine transfer from Zurich airport we will be happy to arrange at CHF 285 per way. The main entrance is at the end of the building.

Child Policy:Extra beds for children up to 13 years (inclusive) are free of charge. Maximum room occupancy: 2 adults plus 1 child plus 1 baby.
This hotel was beautiful, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful, and the view from our balcony was unbeatable. It would be nice if they offered transportation to the train station, but it was such a nice day that we didn't mind the walk.

Very beautiful hotel with nice rooms and a very good restaurant. The view on the Lake Luzern is wonderful. The staff is also very kind. This is a real 5* palace ! An exceptional experience !
Only negative was that the shower head was really low. Excellent service. They noticed it was my birthday and brought up a complimentary gift. Restaurants were amazing too.

This hotel has always been among our favorites and we stay there every time we come to Lucerne. It is elegant, refined, and the staff is outstanding, both in the breakfast room and at the front desk.
