A nice secluded getaway that is in an outstanding bush setting. Clean and functional rooms but could do with updating, particularly the TV in the cupboard. The pool is great and the restaurant service was very good. The surrounding area in Pauanui makes it well worth visiting.
I think this place was fantastic in its day, but could do with a face lift, I hated not being able to park my vehicle near our room, and the hills were killers to walk up and down, the Staff were awesome and the food was lovely, the breakfast meal was really expensive for what we got, over all I probably wouldn't stay again.
Extremely over-priced. Restaurant very good. Access difficult having to park away from your cabin with steep uphill walk - would suit the younger ones.
I would not normally rate hotels in these surveys, but I was expecting the standard of Puka Park to be so much better than it is. The room rate does not reflect its star rating of advertised accommodation. The resort is extremely tired and in need renovation. The food served in the restaurant is extremely average also.
Television reception was terrible, not that much TV was being watched...
Lovely place with a beautful forets setting, easy walk to the beach. Restaurant expensive but beautiful food and great service.
location is great, but the step hill you have to climb to your room is very taxing at the end of the day. love the open fires, great breakfast, but they do tend to overcharge if you are not watching. they need a service to drive you to your room. Going down is easy going up exhausting.
This is my second stay at the resort. No bathtub in the treehouse chalets. The decorative mosquito net was ripped/tattered. The bedding/sheets are absolute luxury.
Very private chalets in native bush. Tuis and fantails just outside your balcony. Room standard very exclusive. Big bathroom and shower. All very high standard. Friendly and helpfull staff. Excellent restaurant. Nice views from outside verandah.
Above all, the interior was fantastic, it was just a complete harmony with its bush environment. I had only one night there but will sure come back again.
We had a great stay at the Mercure Grand Puka Park Resort. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The service was great and the atmosphere warm and friendly.
