Grande Hotel Do Porto

Welcoming from minute you walk through revolving door.Excellent ambience and superb decor.Rooms compact and pristine.Highly recommend.

A very pleasant experience, I was fascinated by the history of the hotel. The nicely preserved olde worlde charm of the ground floor (lobby, bar, restaurant) are not matched by the upstairs corridors and room, which are rather bland by comparison. The location on the Rua Santa Catarina is perfect, and only a 10-15 stroll from the river. Metro station about 200 metres to the north. At €70 p/night for a twin room it's ideal for a brief city centre stay.

Staying at the Grande Hotel do Porto was a great experience. While the bedrooms are simple, somewhat spartan even, they still proivde what you might need and the public areas (reception, reading room, bar, dining room) of the hotel are truly opulent, decorated with a sense of style and of fun! The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and very hard working. A very good breakfast is provided. Its position is excellent, in the heart of commercial Porto. (Driving there through the old streets is a bit hair-raising; the hotel is in a pedestrian street giving accesss only to the vehicles of hotel residents, but the staff are excellent with regard to the hotel's parking garage.) Very good value for money!

Very central situated, in the main shopping street. Hotel is " old fashion" styled by has a lot of atmosphere. We had large bedroom with 3 single beds and paid 22,5 Euro p.p.p.n including breakfast. The hotel is also on walking distance from the major touristic attractions. and opposite of the hotel is cafe Majestic in a beautiful old wood/leather style.

Very helpfull staff and good atmosphere, old style Protugese hotel which wold have been very grand in its day.

Like stepping back into another era! 5 star service , at 3 star price! Great location in town. If you come from airport , by Metro, get off at Buloa station , and its only a few minutes walk. I have stayed twice now, & would not stay anywhere else in Porto.

This is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Porto. The rooms are not very big but the common facilities such as the bar and the restaurant make up for it. We will definitly return if we ever visit Porto again.

Overall a very good hotel in Porto - the staff is very helpful, breakfast is decent (although not a huge selection). Only complaint would be that the hallways smelt a little "musty" but the rooms were fine.

This is a lovely hotel, right on one of the main shopping streets in Porto. Everything is within easy reach and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

rooms and ensuites rather small

Very good restaurant for breakfast and dinner, didn't try the lunch. Friendly staff - all spoke English except the porter and the maids. En suite twin room OK but very small - hardly room to stand up when dressing. En suite clean and high standard but again not much room. Wouldn't have been good value at full price. Disappointed that no facilities in room for tea and coffee making. Also not offered use of safe. Location very good but street plagued with beggars - we were accosted by one, but couldn't understand what he wanted!

The Grande Hotel Do Porto is a fantastic hotel that superbly located for a great stay in Porto.

Rather small rooms. Grandiose dining hall (where breakfast is served). Very centrally located.

it was a very good stay, my bedroom wasn't too large and had a bad view, but the bathroom was very comfortable.

I marked the cleanliness average because of the whiff of drains from the en suite, however the room was spotless and staff v attentive. The hotel is 3 mins from the Metro and 1 min from Cafe Majestic which makes everything OK. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. Breakfast was OK, the bar was always empty, staff arranged breakfast in our room when we checked out early. Cheap and cheerful good value.

wonderful dinning room worth visiting

Excellent location in main shopping street very lose to metro. Rooms are small but character of otel makes up for this. Good breakfast included.

We chose this hotel for a football match therefore only stayed 1 night but cannot fault location or the hotel, would definaltey recommned Porto and this hotel to family and friends
