All previous reviews describe accurately the datedness of the hotel. The paint coming off walls and the pretty poor looking bathroom fixtures. However, the hotel was roasting hot and the water piping hot. shower looked terrible but was quite acceptable. My son and I had twin beds which were reasonably comfortable but the duvet was ridiculously small and not wide enough. If you are above 5 ft or over 14 stone I doubt if you would be covered. Satff were all very pleasant and its right across the road from Sounth Kensington Subway station. would I stay again, only at a push.
Great location near South Ken tube station so direct access from Heathrow, also on direct bus route from Clapham Junction so good access from Gatwick too. This is an old hotel and every room is different in some way, which can be irritating. On my recent visit I was given a room that had a shower but no bath - I was not told this in advance though other rooms do have baths. The shower room was cramped (room 418) and the shower had a habit of beign either too hot or too cold, and not staying as set. This is the worst aspect of the stay. TV reception in the hotel is not good and their movie system has not worked for years, so if you are staying for lobger than a day or two, you might find this a drawback. Breakfast is very good in a pleasant basement breakfast room, but there are good choices nearby with a Paul outlet and a Pret a Manger, if you go room only.
Bit tatty but really only needs a paint job and new carpet. However, the pricing was good, daily service did not miss a thing and room larger than many doubles in London. Location was great and only a few small things annoyed me like how the kettle was wired into the wall, so adding cups of water was the only way to fill it. Room must have been grand in it's day and I would stay again. The staff were professional and most would agree that a friendly welcome every night is important.
The Grosvenor Kensington is well-located but rather tired; it's mostly Spanish-staffed and the breakfast tends towards the Continental with cooked offerings of variable quality.
The hotel is situated at an excellent location, two-minute walk from South Kensington Tube Station. The Twin Room I stayed was very spacious. Do note there wasn't a fridge in the room. As I was only there for three days, it wasn't a big problem to me. The hotel offers very good breakfast as well, great way to start your day!
Good place to stay in london, Very close to underground and Hyde Park.
Location sensational with a hop and step from tube and easy walk to museums & Harrods, staff very helpful, obliging and sensitive to our needs, rooms more generous in size than one expects from a mid city London location, breakfast a surprise as only expected typical continental - will certainly recommend to friends and colleagues
The hotel is ideally located and very reasonably priced. The mattresses could do with a change, but overall this is a very good deal and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Excellent hotel and would recommend to anybody.
This hotel was 2 minutes from South Kensington Tube, so really handy. Plenty of restaurants around it. The foyer is lovely, but rooms are a bit tired, nothing a bit of paint woudn't cure! Also, extremely hot - had to put a fan on at night (in early March!!). Dread to think what their electric bill is. Breakfast really good. Would stay here again.
The hotel was extremely well located for tube station and access to central london. The hotel itself could have maybe done with a freshen up paint wise.. but nothing to make a big complaint about! Would use it again.
The exterior of this hotel is very impressive. The staff were efficient, courteous and very helpful at all times. It was a pleasure to stay in. Our room was very clean and spacious, only let down was the bath panel looked a bit shoddy and in need of replacement which detracted from the rest of the furnishings. Bed was very comfortable and though the hotel was situated on a busy road, the noise was well subdued by double glazing. Breakfast was excellent. This is an excellent value for money hotel. Staff were also very accomodating by providing a secure luggage room for after checkout. I would definitely stay here again.
A very good, clean hotel with large rooms and an excellent breakfast. Our only complaint is that they use a "Fresh air" spray which irritates the nose and mucous membrane.
I was able to book this hotel for £69.00 which made it exceptional value for money
Reception staff very very helpful, breakfast excellent, close to museums, buses, tubes, parks, useful to be able to leave bags in secure room to enjoy last day to the full. Woud have expected sky t.v but minor fault.
Clean, Comfortable and in a great location
The size and facilities of the room were fine, except the matresses were too soft for our preference. The creaking of the floor was annouying. Quality, quantity and variety of the breakfast must be rated excellent for the price category. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Great location right next to tube.
Happy with the hotel overall and will definitely consider staying there again. South Ken tube station is 20 seconds walk away and great Italian and Indian restaurants are even closer. Didn't see the gym facilities, but the breakfast buffet included all the usual suspects and got each day off to a good start. Strategic location is great for exploring London and getting to and from Heathrow.
Excellent location, right by South Kensington Tube Station (Piccadilly, Circle and District lines) so only 5 mins to West End. Buffet breakfast could not be faulted. Room was ok, but great value for London. We will definitely use this hotel again.
