The front desk clerk quickly got my reservation and room together. No hassles, answered my questions. The breakfast was standard Chinese Hotel buffet. Adequate variety and quality. I would stay there again. The only problem I had were the cab drivers outside the airport. One wanted to take me the 1 or 2 miles to the Hotel for 180 RMB. Another wanted 100 RMB. Fortunately I speak passable Mandarin, and found one who would use his meter- 18 RMB. So, don't let the cab drivers rip you off. The Hotel is very close.

The Guang Sha Hotel Guangzhou is in an ideal location for Baiyun International Airport and the hotel offers a free airport pick up service. Whilst the rooms were clean and reasonably well appointed, the 'restaurant' facilities were very, very basic; the self-service 'dining room' being more like an institutional canteen than a restaurant. However, the food itself was fine and the hotel is not at all expensive.
The greatest advantage is that it provides transfers from the airport to the hotel and also from the hotel to the airport. It also provides free breakfast which really helps if the guests have to catch an early flight.
The hotel was very helpful organising the shuttle bus late at nite. A tip to other travellers: I approached a hotel booking service centre near the international exit at the Airport, some 50 m from the McDonalds outlet, and for 2 RMB they phoned the hotel and got the hotel's shuttle sent to pick me up at 10:30 pm.
the hotel offers free transfer to and from the airport anytime of the day am night!! it was a pleasant surprise.
I had read on another website travellers' comments which were very discouraging. In fact, I found the hotel to be fine, given that it is an airport hotel. I was met at the airport by a rep holding a placard with my name, at 11pm, for the hotel shuttle, then check-in was easy and quick. The room was clean and modern, with good lighting and a nice bathroom, including excellent shower. Great price, given I stayed during Trade fair week, when all hotels rates are hiked. Hotel shuttle reurned me to the airport to catch express bus to town.
