The Colonial Motor Inn rooms are very out dated (70's - 80's) style decor, (Executive Spa Room), definitely overrated, archs, tap fixtures, shower door was missing rubber guard (ran out onto floor & soaked the bath mat, very small older style television. Heating was good (slpit system), breakfast was great (included in the price), I was very disappointed with it, as it was a birthday gift. I stayed in a motel in Ballarat 2 months ago & it was only $20.00 extra & was luxurious, the Colonial motel, needs to update their rooms, to 2010 style.
Staff were very friendly and very close to the Grampians.
WE loved the accommodation - especially the environment with the kangaroos. Having a restaurant and continental breakfast available was an added bonus in such a serene setting.
Nice motel-style accommodation in beautiful location. Huge rooms, a little dated, but clean and well-maintained. Restaurant did not look particularly inviting, but the Kookaburra restaurant is within 5 minutes stroll with excellent food and friendly service. Free breakfast is basic 'continental' but you can add a cooked breakfast for about €12. I would stay again.
Our problem was the holiday on Tuesday. (Melbourne cup day). Many guests were unaware that the restaurant attached to the motel would be closed for dinner. The reception staff would have done well to inform guests better and provided an alternative venue. It was all a bit hit and miss.
Perfectly adequate hotel with kangaroos in the paddock and a kookaburra in the fountain outside the restaurant as we ate our evening meal. The meal was OK but the kangaroo fillet was chewy! The pool was cool but the weather hot so that was actually very pleasant.
